for a young lady who has just graducated from university? she is now a teacher! and we are all so proud of her! i wanted to pick up a little token gift to show how excited i am for her!

I work as a teacher, and I think all of the suggestions above are fabulous. I think a gift certificate for your local book store would be great...teachers are book fiends, lots of alcohol, a teacher store gift certificate for all the odds and ends teachers need (stickers, borders, paper, etc...)...
ALSO - get her this book "The First Days of School: How to be an effective teacher" by Harry and Rosemary Wong. It's a life saver! You will be doing her a tremendous favour...I only discovered it my third year teaching, and I think my career would have started on a better foot with it.

Congratulations on your friend's accomplishment!
I have a few suggestions:
1. A gift card to a teacher supply shop or office supply store. Teachers ALWAYS need supplies.
2. Maybe a nice necklace. Depending upon how much you want to spend, you may be able to find a simple necklace with a small stone or pearl.
3. A gift card to a dept store like Macy's or Penney's. She may need some interview clothes.
4. If she has a favorite shop, perhaps a gift card from there. Teacher's can use a little R & R after a hard day!

get together and take pictures and create an album. that way, she can show it to her students and also have great smiles everytime she sees of how wonderful her college life was.
me and my friends did that not long ago. and trust me, tears of joy will come out from her also.
