Zoloft can take several weeks to get in your system. Give it time. I am surprised the doctor didn't wean you onto it. The first dose is usually 25 mg (it comes in a 25 mg pill too).
I would try finishing out the week on half a pill, then move up to the 50 mg dose. Give it time and hang in there!!!
I took Zoloft for years with great success. :) Just give it the time it needs to get into your system. Good luck! :)

I have been taking Zoloft now for 8 years. I started on 50mg the nausea is a side affect that will pass. You will also find that your appetite won't be quite like it use to. I was on 150mg for awhile. You need to take it as it was prescribed. do not try to self regulate yourself. I am now on 100 mg. You may also find that when you start the 50 you will have nausea and possibly diarrhea don't be alarmed this does calm down too. However if the symptoms persist more than a month I would definitely see your doctor. I also suggest to take them in the morning because if you take them in the arvo you will find it hard to sleep at night. Good luck.

Your doctor should've prescribed some smaller doses to help get you on track. Call and ask if that was supposed to have happened, he may have forgotten.
Either way, a half done per day for two weeks is the best way to start. A full dose right away (even broken up into two per day) is too much of a jump start. The side affects are common, but should go away after a week or two. After the two weeks with the low dosage, it's safe to up it to a full one. With the full dose, you may go through side affects again. If they're not better in a couple days, call your doc.

Call your doctor; he/she has the answer. But you write: "The second day I took half a pill and everything seemed okay until the next morning when all the feelings set in again." Not antidepressent works quickly (as your comment seems to indicate; you must get a therapeutic dose into your system; sometimes this can take as long as a month.

DO NOT SELF MEDICATE WITH ZOLOFT !!!! Call your Doctor and ask him/her what you should do . Don't self medicate, or you will never start to feel well. There is a reason for your Doctor to have given you a prescribed dosage. If you cannot tolerate Zoloft, the Doctor may change you to something else.

You need to take the medication as prescribed or it won't work.
Look at the information that came with the prescription, did it say anything about taking it at certain time of day? with food? before or after a meal? with milk?
If it doesn't or you are already doing what it said, call the pharmacist and ask his/her advice. They may have a suggestion to deal with the nausea or they may suggest they call your doc for a different med that won't give you that side effect.
Good luck!

When I started taking it I had start on 50 then go to 100 then to 200 you have to give it time to work into your body. your body has never had this drug in it before so you need to start small and them work your way up. But if you keep getting sick this one may not be for you there are a lot different kind of anit-depresstion pills so dont give up if this on dose not work. Just try to listen to what your body is telling you. If your getting sick then maybe you needx different kind

I would recommend talking to your Doctor. They will tell you what to start out with and discuss any immediate side effects you are experiencing(normal/not normal). Any depression medicine takes some time for your body to adjust to. Some people have to try one or two before they find one that agrees with them. Just communicate with your Doctor and be patient. Meds are just like when you first take off in an airplane.. Things start out bumpy (turbulence) and then once your up in the air then its smooth sailing :)

While this isn't a bad idea, you should call your doctor and tell them about the nausea. They may have to reduce your prescription. Also, they may want to have you try something else (maybe Wellbutrin) that might not have that same negative effect on you
