That's not what antidepressants are for, it's not a quick-fix "happy pill." If you're "a bit dissatisfied" with your life, admit that you are *sad*, dissatisfied, discontent--not depressed.
Write down those things you'd like to see changed. Now write down what you yourself (not someone else) could do to change the situation. None of this, "If my husband would just...." Now is not the time for that. Now is the time to look at yourself and your life and take responsibility. It will take some effort, but if you really want to see change, it's up to you to start where you are and work slowly toward that.
Antidepressants treat a symptom, they don't solve a problem. They are for serious depression (can't stop crying, literally can not get out of bed in the morning, sleep 12 hours a day, panic attacks, like that). It's not going to change your life, your relationships or yourself.

Anti depressants are not the solution to anything. I took Seroxat for three years- all it did was fog up my head and made me feel less motivated in my life than i ever had. They are dangerous and doctors hand them out like sweets. You need to address your problems and deal with them one by one. Look for solutions that help you relax- meditating help me no end. Long walks- ok so its tough to get up and do it- but excercise raises your serotin levels (serotin is the chemical that depletes when we are low). Laughing and orgasms raises the serotin levels as do bananas, brazil nuts and chocolate. Life doesn't always go as planned, but we learn from it- life is a learning curve and each experience has a purpose. Think about what positive things you can learn from your recent dissatisfaction and determine to get up and go on and use that experience in a positive way. Go man you can do it!! If i can, anyone can.

they block your mind and make you function slower than normal. they make you feel fuzzy and dont motivate you at all.

it will depend on the dosage you are given but all anti depressants just slow you down. I have been offewred these in the past and refused them and i was determined to beat my depression on my own and i made a few positive changes in my life and its done me the world of good!!

i feel happier, i have a career and some days are rubbish but thats how it is.

Anti depressents try to balance the chemicals that might make you sad, but they don't give you the motivation to carry on. In other words they simply allow you to handle your sadness!!

Anti-depressants are ment to fix the chemical imbalace. They won't take feelings of failure away. They just make your mind deal with things better. You will still have all the feelings you still have, but they just won't be as harsh as they were before.

no, anti-depressants do not provide you with motivation, they do however make it easier to motivate yourself. Generally tho, doctors don't prescribe antidepressants for a situational blue feeling that will pass with time.

Anti-depressants don't make you more motivated in themselves. They help stabilise your emotions and moods so that your own motivation can return.

"Depression", over a ...lets say a bad situation, it one thing.....but actually having depression, is totally another!
It's, I think, normal to have an anxiety attack when you're so hyped up over a situation in sadness, but actually taking medication for it may not be at your best interest until you've spoken with you doctor....and really be honest with he/she, they are there to help! SIGNED.....one who suffers!!
Hoped I helped a tad....will chat anytime! Good Luck!
