I was amazed after a LA police officer on a motorcycle was hurt that the police used such actions...was it justified? Will they do this again?

This sort of thing comes up anytime a demonstration turns violent. It's not easy to assess the level of force required in such circumstances, as a demonstration that's begun to turn violent could errupt into a full fledged riot (which, obviously, would be held against the police were they to allow it). That's why there's an investigation, even though it seems, on the surface, like a fairly minor incident.

Hey, what do you expect criminals to do? The illegals threw a bottle at the police officer. Why did they do that? Was it out of respect for the law? When the illegals demonstrated last year in front of Hastert's office, they spit at people who were demonstrating against them. When one of our people went to Chicago to do her legal duty to testify in front of the Cook County Law Enforcement and Corrections Committee against giving sanctuary to illegal immigrants, she was spat on and yelled at by the illegal immigrants. Even though the chairman of that committee, Robert Maldonado, was in the room and saw the incident -- he DID NOTHING! Why are illegals allowed to get away with this kind of behavior and why should they expect that law-abiding citizens and our law-enforcement won't eventually react? -- Or was that their intent all along? Were they just trying to garner more sympathy by claiming that we/our law enforcement picked on the lawbreakers? They shouldn't have been allowed to march in the streets in the first place. They are lawbreakers and they were marching for the purpose of insurrection and subversion of our laws. Oh and just so we keep the record straight -- None of these people returned a violent response to the illegals' actions. We kept our dignity.

Once its been declared that a place will be cleared, it will be cleared. I don't care who you are or what you're doing. Cameraman, news anchor, hot dog vendor, etc...you're finished there.

If people would just realize that their rights of freedom of speech and assembly were something as great as they are, they may not abuse them so much. Are there peaceful rallys anymore.

Some may say brutal police officers have spawned a new generation of violent people. I say violent citizens have created a more violent police force.

when your out numbered 100 to 1 you do what you have to do to make it home to mommy and the kids that night. Hard to make a decision in a few seconds that people in the news and sites like this will be second guessing for days, and if a law suit results they'll be debating it in the courts for years.

The police were trying to stop a group of people in support of currently criminal activity from starting a riot and injuring people. They support criminial behaviour of one type, who knows what other criminal acts they would support.
