My son was recently accepted to a modeling agency. They want him to take professional pictures, but they say I have to pay $300 for his head shots and etc. The real question i want to ask is do I really have to pay for them. Do you think that this may be a scam. What should I do? They dont guarantee he will get a job, just that his face and bio will be on a database for potential employers to see.

I would be wary and one way to test this would be to ask if you can get your own headshots done. If they are legit, this should not be a problem since they want to make their money by representing your son. If they are really just trying to sell related products (like makeup and photos) then they will have a problem. I know many photographers who could take a decent head shot of your son for less than $300. It is normal, however, to pay to have head shots done. I would never do them for free as another person here suggests - but I would charge a fair price.

Good luck.

Scam!!!Run away and don't look back. Your son would be making money for the agency if he was accepted. If they won't pay to have pictures to represent him, they won't get him jobs either.

it is a scam. a real agency knows where to find good photographers who will either trade for the photos or take test shots.
