I'm trying to get rid of some old electronics because I've gotten new ones to replace them or I'm plan on getting new ones to replace them but I don't know exactly what to do with them.

I have a laptop I bought in 2005, two digital cameras, a tv, a couple of old cell phones, etc. I don't know anyone who needs them so I don't have anyone to give them to. A friend of mine suggested a yard sale but I don't actually have enough stuff to really hold a yard sale.

Do you just toss them? Or are there places or shops that would maybe buy them even though their old? Any answers or suggestions would be great so I could try to figure out what to do with these items and any items in the future. Thanks!

Both Goodwill and the Salvation Army sell old electronics. As long as your stuff still works, I'm certain they'd be happy to take them as donations (which they are supposed to give you recipts for if you want an extra tax deduction for it). Aside form that, most towns have used appliance/electronics stores you could sell your stuff too. Some pawn shops will even take it.

Of course if you want to score some karma points you could always donate it to the local homless shelter... who also could give you that receipt for tax deductions if you really want it, but they don't try and make money off your charity.

I agree with some of the others ... donate or sell. Ebay and Craigslist are easy ways to get a few bucks for the things that you think someone would be willing to pay for. Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Freecycle for the things that are "too behind" or not in very good condition ... if something works, SOMEONE will want it.

try a pawn shop or call an electronics store they can point you in the right direction. if you know of an afterschool program at your local communtiy center or local highschool or elementry they might be able to put your old things to use, plus you would be doing something for your community.

We have a Hazardous Waste Disposal Site in our city, and we use it for everything, TV's, batteries, old cell phones, etc. They recycle and dispose of things properly. See if you can find one near you. We found ours by calling our trash company.

Yes.. If they are in good condition, put them on Ebay! If not, give them to good will.. You can use it as a tax deduction..

Sell them on eBay. That's what I do.

Or just give them to me, I'll take that stuff off your hands!
