Jesus gave them much more than fish, and like the other guy said, he had several fisherman among his followers. How come people try to use their mind to explain away Jesus when their heart is yearning to know him?

This question is spawning so much silliness...

Republicans don't teach people how to fish - they form international corporations that drain the oceans of fish.

The one sensible answer in the first 8 referenced "fishers of men". Jesus did not come to end poverty (the poor will always be among you) or live up to whatever expectations the "not even a good role model" person has. He came to reconcile us with God. He taught how living according to God's will would lead to a better life (so in that respect He did the spiritual equivalent of teaching us to fish). He shook up the concepts of justice, fairness, love, what is important, etc.

I pray this kind of nonsense question does not distract even one potential follower.

Tricky question if one does not know the bible. Remember when the disciples where fishing and they could not catch anything? Then Jesus said to put the net on the right side of the boat? When they did this (Out of Faith) they caught 153 fish. Imagine what things we could do if we just had the faith the disciples had.

John 24:4-6

4. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

because we complained enough and he got tired of hearing it. Apparently you haven't been to my hometown in Louisiana. Fishing is in our blood. If there is a hole with water we will sit all day trying to catch a fish out of it. But I sadly moved from there and haven't caught a fish since. I miss the fish that give up and jump into the boat on their own. Those are fun. I guess you can call them suicidal fish. lol

He did.

When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets. When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break; so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink.

Like the old proverb goes. Teach a man to fish and he will be able to feed himself for life. Teach a man to pray for his dinner and he will starve to death. Jesus was not too smart. The idiot let himself get tacked up by Romans....lol
