The best way to pray is to open your heart and your soul to God and praise His holy name and say whatever is on your mind. This works for Muslims, Christians, and Jews.

Express the intent to pray, then do it. No need for fancy words, no sacrifices, just a little piece of your day completely devoted to God.

Oh, and as an ending note and an answer to your second question, you don't have to close your eyes while praying. I'm a Muslim, and Muslims don't close their eyes while praying the five basic prayers a day. Most people do it because it helps concentration and helps avoid distraction.

Well, you close your eyes so your not distracted by anything else. Its your way of saying to God, you are all that matters and right now I'm giving all my time especially devoted to you. The best way to pray? There's no best way to pray. Close your eyes and pray for not only your self but for others, and dont just pray when you want something, pray to thank God or just to talk to him.

I believe the best way to pray to our Heavenly Father is on our knees and in private. Yet there is nothing wrong praying to Him during a quiet walk with your eyes heavenward, or even voicing a prayer while tooling down the interstate.

You can pray anywhere and anytime it meets your approval. The important thing to remember is to pray often lest the adversary will come in unto you.

The way you're comfortable with.Chinese pray silently using joss sticks, Hindus pray reciting mantras, indigenous people pray by singing and having colourful ceremonies, YOU - up to you!

Oh yes,i noticed too when most people pray they'll automatically close their eyes! I do too!

From personal experience, when i close my eyes, i'll automatically feel calm and concentrated. Then I'll say my prayer through my inner voice.

Perhaps that's why others close their eyes when they say their prayers.

you dont have to close your eyes especially if your driving and praying!!!!mostly we close our eyes so we can focus on the LORD and have no distractions around us. the best way to pray is secretly continually faithfully. you can pray in public yes but dont do it getting every one to notice, pray at all times of the day even when you wake in the middle of the night, and faithfully meaning know HE will answer may not be the answer you want but HE will answer and on HIS time...and always in this order open with praise to the LORD,then pray for the needs of others, then pray for your leaders, then finally pray for your own needs and ask it JESUS name.

It does not matter if you close your eyes or not, when you pray. The only thing that matters is that you pray from you heart.

It is not neccesary to close your eyes for prayer. 1st Thesselonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing. Carry on a conversationwith God as you would your best friend. Let your focus be in Him. Forget all that you read here as answers, even mine. Do what you need to do in order to truly hear from God.

I don't think that there is a best way to pray. Prayers can be said anytime and in any format as long as they are from the heart.

Depends how you define prayer. In Islam there is prayer that is considered worship and prayer that is du'a --that is when u ask God for something. I think the closing of eyes is part of concentrating.

Look into Islamic prayer -- even in many orthodox churches they pray in similar ways (by bowing down).
