The fact that illegal immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two-thirds of illegal immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes. Yet, nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation's hospitals, schools and welfare programs — consuming services that they don't pay for.

That wasn't the point of my questions. I hear a lot of misinformation, so I wanted to make a few things clear.

Interesting...but i want to know why you are so determined to defend illegal immigrants. Don't you believe people should follow laws?

And you are saying they pay taxes like we should be excited. Damnit they should pay taxes, they use the resources, more than they should. And 2/3 is still not all.

I love how so many people insist on speaking out of ignorance. I am illegal, when my pay check comes I get deductions for health care, social security, an God knows what else. The only difference is that I don't get any of the benefits. I don't have health care and I'm certainly not ever going to cash that social security. The only law I am breaking is stepping foot illegally. I pay my bills, I pay for my health care, I pay out of my pocket for my education. We don't pay taxes w/ a fake social or someone Else's! We have a W-7 number. People insist on calling us criminals and that we take advantage of the free education and free this an that. So do people really believe that only ILLEGALS do this? So, some illegals have committed crimes, haven't people of other races of other legal statuses committed crimes as well? We do not the demand anything as many people think. We are simply human beings that deserve to be treated with respect and be rewarded for our hard work. I work day in and day out and earn an honest and modest living. If they are working with a legally operated company, They pay social security taxes. Many set their dependents up very high, so they pay as little as possible in state and federal taxes. Since they usually have illegal social security numbers, so they do not file tax returns.

You have to have a social security card to pay into taxes,so illegals either have to have have feak cards or steal someone elses,either way,its breaking the law.And it you research this question you would find that even though they pay in the resources they use are far more than what they pay in.

Well certainly they pay "taxes"... IF they have a job that is above-board, they pay SSI, and would have income-tax witheld. BUT if they are in a cash-only job... they AREN'T. And even if they ARE, they are committing FRAUD... they are having those taxes withheld of falsified Social Security Numbers !!

And of course they pay sales-taxes if the State they are in has them.

BUT.... a group were ONE THIRD then DOESN'T pay their SSI, Medicare, Income Tax... I'd consider that a DRAIN on the services.

They are a drain on the nations hospitals.
LA only has one trauma center now, because illegals use the emergency rooms for everything from well baby care to cold symptoms.
They never pay for the care they receive. They go to the emergency rooms because they know that they cannot be turned away.
LA hospitals lost over $350 million last year in services to illegal aliens who do not pay.

They do, so what? They do so illegally when it comes to income taxes. In order to pay income taxes, they have to use ilegally used/stolen soc. sec. numbers. I'm sure most don't file taxes either. Of course they pay sales taxes, etc.

Besides, most illegals make very little so how much in taxes do they really pay?

I'm sure most rent- so they're not paying into local real-estate taxes which fund schools and other public services. And I"m sure most do not have health insurance either-- so their using "free" clinics and emergency room stuff. Face it, they are a drain on our public resources.

With all the withholdings and fake soc. sec. numbers, I'm surprised the IRS hasn't audited these people- surely with all the data/computer systems they have, they can cross check soc. sec. numbers to withholdings.

You people need to quit justifying illegal activity. Its illegal for them to be here and immoral. Period, end of story.

Even if they do pay taxes they pay them on a stolen social security number. Goes to show how much respect they have for American law. They shouldn't even be here and then they steal identities. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Besides, they use more in social services than they pay in. That's a fact. Go ahead, prove me wrong...
BTW, if you want them around so bad, why don't you pay for their schooling and unpaid medical bills.
