Why do chrisitins & other relgious types think morality is about having a miserable or lack of sex life?

Funny you Jesus just said treat others how you would have them treat you.

Now logically that would make living togehter, being gay, checking out porn as long as ok say girls checking out naked guy porn, or checking you out.

Would make Pole dancing ok as long as you were willing to have a go etc all ok.

Basically just saying dont rape or bully anyone.

So why is it there is so much nastiness and bullying in the name of morality , and killing etc.

Instead of everyone acting like free love hippies? Which seemed to have a lot more in common with your Jesus character then most christians.

likewise why dont most relgions like islam not think the same.

like the wicca...as long as it harms none do as you will.

Now negligence is not treating others right so that would mean safe sex.

Just like lifeboats on a boat.

You have been severely mislead dear. A healthy sex life is part of a healthy Christians life and it is to be enjoyed.

If that was true there would be no nonsnee like it being considered dirty, fornication, sinful, whorish, discusting etc. No problems with explicit detsailed sex ed and no probs with condom machines in secondary/high schools

And ex porn stars/lap dancers would have no problems getting jobs as teachers.

Do you HAVE to make so many comments to ask such a simple question...or is this just meant to attach Christians and "others religious types"?

People in good marriages have way more sex than some guy hitting the bars looking for a one nighter.

I have also seen such shallow questions like, "What is the best sex you have ever had".

I read this and think, when it is good it is really good. We have to add up the times it was so great. I am pretty sure this is normal for a married couple that has a good relationship.

This is exactly what God teaches in Hebrews 13:4

Heb 13:4
4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
(KJV)

Not that I could understand a word you were saying but, here's the thing with sex and society. It has been all but universally accepted that attitude and health go hand in hand. We have such a negative attitude towards sex that so amny bad things have come fom it. Abuse, rape, disease, all because we couldn't see it as a beautiful way to show affection. Instead we use it as a way to gain confidence, we sell our bodies, literally and metaphorically.

A lot of this has to do with religion, from virgin births, to premarital sex being a "sin" we have ruined what should be the best physical high to the point where we feel guilty for wanting to do what's natural.

Education = Good
Fear = Bad

Live and learn.

While I agree that there are some terrible things done in the name of morality. However, you made a gross over-exaggeration and generalization regarding Christians and other religious types. Just so you know birth control is frowned upon by the Catholic church, a denomination of Christians. Just because someone belongs to a Church does not mean that he/she agrees with everything they do. Take for example our government, we are US citizens but obviously don't all agree with our Acts such as the Patriot Act, the War in Iraq, etc.

I'm not sure where to begin with this one-dimensional, and badly informed almost question...

let's start with morality, which is not situational but rather foundational. There is a unified moral structure in the universe - there are absolutes, right and wrong.

One of the areas in which this comes into play is purpose. Life has a purpose - and things of this life have a purpose. So to destroy life is immoral. Or sinful, whatever vocabulary you like. Sex, too, has a purpose - mutual support and procreation. Christians are opposed to sex - at least, Christians who understand the teachings of Christ.

What they are opposed to is the abuse of sex - using it for other than the purpose for which it was created. So that would include child slavery, prostitution, homosexual activity (not homosexuals - crucial difference) ,

You may not agree with it - but before you disagree, it would seem only fair to spend a little time coming to understand what it is Christians truly believe and why.

Last Sunday morning there was a service on the radio from a Roman Catholic church in San Francisco. The vicar welcomed gay lesbian, transsexuals etc. Saying that 'We are all Gods children and know one has the right to persecute anyone for their sexual behaviour' I agree with this. We all need to be more tolerant and understanding of each others needs.

I have a pretty good sex life. In bible studies we have talked about pleasing our man and him pleasing us. So what are you talking about? When you are married to the same person for your whole entire adult life- honey you better make it interesting and the sex good.
I think you have some serious misconceptions about Christians. Obviously the ones of us who are married and stay married and are not having affairs must be doing something very right in that aspect. Sure we have moral standards to uphold but we are human and the bedroom can and is a playground for many Christians.

I want to add that I go to a southern baptist church so its not like we are super liberal. So you know if we are talking about it and doing it, those more liberal church's are to.

Christians enjoy more healthy and more satisfying sex lives because they can be more free and loving with a faithful monogamous relationship.

Since committed Christians stay together more often with one spouse they are happier and love each other more freely because they don't have to spend a lot of time worrying about their spouse and their motives. They can just express their love.

Oh dear. You sound very confused, naive and misinformed.
QUOTE:
"Why do chrisitins & other relgious types think morality is about having a miserable or lack of sex life?"

Do they? Who says (other than you)?
If this is what you think then you have a rather jaded and misguided opinion about Christian and other religions.

Morality is about respect for your self and others and for your own physical, psychological and spiritual well being. It is not about being miserable or sexless!

When you refer to things like porn, pole dancing, and doing whatever you like as long as it harms noone -- I am afraid that you, like many people (including me at times) are fooling themselves that sexually explicit material, 'entertainments' and activity, are 'harmless' IF anyone involved does it of their own free will...This is a terrible fallacy.

Sadly, many people are currently living lives that they feel are 'free' -- free choice to use porn; free choice to watch women who feel compelled to make a living by undertaking what are actually personally degrading activies; free choice to take part in dogging; free choice to meet in seedy hotels and get off in group bukkake sessions; free choice to swap intimate photos of their wives/girlfriends/husbands; free choice to share and/or swap partners -- or watch their partner being 'used' for sex by someone else...

All this because morality today has 'slipped away' thanks to supposed liberal attitude, low standard media (TV, magazines, papers) -- all gradually convincing us that such activity is OK and acceptable...because 'noone is being harmed'...

In fact we are dreadfully, and consisitently, harming ourselves by falling for this 'slack', immoral way of living. This has nothing to do with religion or religious doctrines -- it simply has to so with being in a period of social evolution that refects the typical decline of human morals when everything 'comes too easy' and there has been neglect of spiritual development.

The great civilizations of the World all had their time, and became preeminently powerful -- then rapidly fell into decay and dissolution when this type of rottenness set in -- The Greeks, the Romans, and others before and since all fell the same way...due to the weakness of the human mind and the neglect of the human spirit.

Stop fooling yorself and wake up to the need to live life that is respectful of yourself and others no matter what your creed , colour or race. Otherwise -- the writing is on the wall, as history has shown time and again -- those societies that start to focus of self gratification, self-indulgence, hedonism and fulfillment of base desires all in the name of 'personal freedom' shall pass away and simple prove once again that lack of morality is wrong and spiritual development is esential!

It's all about control. If religious groups can convince us that we are sinning by having a good time in the sack, and only god can forgive us then they can control our behaviour and make us feel grateful to god.
Most of the 'religious laws' have nothing to do with religious texts but how they have been interpreted by man in order to control the masses and eliminate free thinking!!!
