Sierra means two things
1 - Saw
2 - Forest, or a place in the mountains where there are trees, and it is usually cold.

Chainsaw means Sierra Electrica = electric saw

A "sierra" is a feminine noun which means a saw or mechanical saw. Sierra can also mean a chain of mountians.
