I think it's just that . .your preference. I am african american as well, and have dated outside my race and have had good experiences too - - but my preference is african american men as well. Although it's getting rough for us african american women, statistically most of our men are in prison, gay, married, or just not quality men . .so I think that to some extent, that forces us to seek other options such as dating outside our race.

It not racism. Its just something that you are most comfortable with. Everyone finds certain things that appeal to them. Like me for example. I am a latin girl. but most of my family is black. I've always been to other latin men. Its not because of their color. The very first thing i notice about people is how they carry themselves and their attitude. I have lots of friends of every race but when it comes to relationships, people cant help who they are attracted to and what appeals to them. Dont worry if people think that you are racist. If you know that you arent then that is all that matters. Everyone has the right to be attracted to anyone they choose. I think that the only time someone could be considered close-minded in these situations is when they get mad when they see an interracial couple. That is when there is a problem. People shouldnt judge others for dating outside of their own race.

Well you are not racist because of you dating preference. But yes you are a little closed minded. Most people have their own dating preference, I myself have one. You never really know if you will fall for someone of a different ethnicity if you do not try it out. Color should not matter how they make you feel should but you will probably only go for what you are attracted to. If you turn a guy down because he is not African American you could be losing out on the love your life. But to each its own

Usually, reading materials are men/women opinions of what they think about , well about anything. Dating outside or staying within ones race is a matter of choice. Love does not have a colour to it, ones feelings, emotions are involve and the rest is history. I believe people of all nationality make it a big to do about nothing. I understand about slavery because of my family history, Martin Luther King his marching for blacks to have equal rights in everything. Also, how blacks were treated so severely by the whites and how dare a black person can get romanically involve outside of their race!. I have no problem with it but, society will especially make a big deal if there's children born bi-racial. Anyway, your not a racist your just expressing your feelings about inter-racial dating, that's your choice. But I believe individuals should not be concern if two people love each other - blacks, whites, chinese, and etc. if they want to go outside their race so-be-it!

I dont think that this makes you racist at all.
I am caucasian and I prefer caucasian males.
That doesnt mean I havent seen males of other races and thought that they were attractive, but I have a tendancy to date caucasian males.
I feel the same way about hair color, though. I prefer dark hair and cant see myself dating someone with blonde hair.
I think if you look at the big picture we all have a general prototype in a male that we view as attractive, and I think it is more of a natural inclination than a selective choice.

I don't think wanting to date within your race makes you racist... I'm the opposite. I'm white and rarely do I find myself attracted to someone of the same race. skin color has nothing to do with attracting me to a man though. if you are close minded about even being friends with a different race, or at least being cordial to them, that would make you racist, but dating preference alone can't classify you as such.

Actually, Black females are quite supportive of their Black men and are very hesitant about dating outside the race. Unfortunately, Black men don't always share this appreciation for their counterparts. There's nothing ignorant about wanting to date within your race. It's just that Black men have a reputation of not preferring their own women, and it appears that Black females are plagued with having to accept substandard men for mates. Doesn't mean it's necessarily true; it's just the way the situation appears to be.

You are just attracted to your same race. No biggie. It is a matter of preference--just like men who only date blondes or brunettes or red-heads.
Why are they viewed as ignorant. Because some people don't want to admit they may feel the same way.

Not at all. It's normal for people to be attracted to people of their own race, religion, traditions, and customs. That doesn't mean interracial trelationships can't work, but it probably means a little more tolerance and understanding sometimes on their part. No, it is not closed minded at all.

Not at all. Everyone likes what they like. Now it may not be all that smart example...if there is a nice guy how likes you and fits your type except he's Mexican, why pass on that?
If you only date black men for racist reasons then that's bad. If you just find them more attractive then that's OK. Plenty of white women find black men more attractive. There are white guys that like only Asian women. It's no big deal.
