Check the dealer to see if there is a recall-free fix on that model. They did it for a friends 92 4 rrunner, v6.

A new head gasket might cost $70 dollars but the labor can run to many hundreds. It does not seem worth it for an 92 Toyota.

depending on the state of the engine, a head gasket will be the cheaper route.... but if the rings or valves are worn then you are only applying a band-aid to the problem. A new engine will give the car another 10+ years as opposed to maybe 2 or 3 with a minor rebuild. If you love the car get a new engine... if not... get a new car!

Well if you take off your crank case cover (place where oil is poured into) and the oil is milky then its just the head gasket. If you drove the car with a blown head gasket you might of cracked the cylinder and chafed the pistons so you might need a new engine. If i were you i would bight the bullet and take it to Toyota if you really plan on fixing the car. I would just buy a new one that car isnt worth that much to fix.

Look for either oil in the water, or water in the oil. It will turn a milky color. That would be a good indication. Also get 2 or 3 estimates from repair shops that you trust. Just because a head gasket is blown is not cause for a new engine! ;-) Hope that helped.

Take to someone who is certified and let them though a through check to really c what the problem is. you may have to pay 10 or 20 bucks but it would be worth it. Because you would be real mad if you spent the money and latter down the road it was something else.

it all depends on what ur car is doing. if its just blowing WHITE smoke out ur tail pipe then its the head gasket. get it replaced ASAP. if u dont it will warp ur aluminum heads then u will be better off replacing ur engine.
