Instead of being involved in their beliefs.

I didn't say anything about what I believe. I'm not trying to be smug. It's just a question.

But as you can see. People that don't know what I believe are attacking me because they think they know me!

Like all human beings, like all religious and non-religious people, there will be those who are not tolerant or understanding of other peoples opinions or belief structures.
That is the way of the human being!

It is not just Atheists attacking Christians. It is people that don't believe as you do, or vote for the same people that you do, or eat the same food that you do, or drive the same make of car that you do, or make the same amount of money that you do. Sound familiar? Even Christian religions attack other Christian religions.

Think about it, don't you feel differently about another religion? And maybe say unkind things about their beliefs? Maybe not to their faces, but amongst people of your belief?

Humans have been that way for years, and there isn't much chance that they will change right away.

Best thing to do is to live a good life, make sure of what you truely believe and always practice your beliefs.

It is not necessary to scream and shout on TV, radio, or in the streets that you are a believer in whatever you believe in. Nor is it a good idea to try to shove your beliefs down other peoples throats, just because you think that these beliefs are the only right way to believe. Live by example, and people will see this, and even if they critize you, they will respect you for sticking to what you believe in.

You might even make a few converts to your way of thinking by living this way. I believe that there was a very famous man in the Bible that lived his life in this manner, and is still getting converts to His way of thinking, even today.

You attract more bees to honey than to vinigar.

Have a good life and don't get too worked up by what others think. If you hate or resent somebody then they own you, because they are always in your thoughts.

Atheists no more 'constantly' attack Christians than vice vera.

And what do you mean by attack?

Are you talking about prayer in public schools or something else like there where a religious group is trying to shove it's religion down other people's throats? It's because no religious group has the right to do that in this country.

The main problem atheists have with Christians or any other religion is that people of that religion go beyond just practicing their religion and consistently try to impose their beliefs on others whether others like it or not. If religious folks would just live and let live, there would be no issue. But that will NEVER be the case.

First some of us are not very good ambassadors for Christ, some of us act like arrogant holier then thou windbags.

Nobody likes to hear that they are wrong on important issues,
some people listen to criticism weight it for truth and act accordingly, some attack the messenger.

Nice intelligent Christians rarely make the news, it is the people who call themselves Christians but are nothing but liars that make the news. When the world hears Christian they think of Catholic priest that mess with boys, preachers that steal from the church, and crazies that call themselves Christ who end up burning down an entire compound filled with people. They rarely hear about the Christians who dedicate their lives to feeding the poor, and taking care of the sick.

Most atheist don't realize that the founding fathers of science were mostly Christian.

Lastly they hate us because Christ said they would.

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

John 17:14
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Some of them will always hate us no matter what we do.
We just have to remember two things Saul was once a murderer of Christians but he changed became known as Paul, and ended up writing a large portion of the Bible. If he can change that radically they can change too.

We are ambassadors for Christ if we behave with knowledge, wisdom and a good character we have done nothing to deserve the hate and the problem rest on their shoulders not ours.

Knowledge - an accurate grasp of the foundational precepts of the Kingdom

Wisdom - skillful, tactical, fair, and diplomatic use of knowledge

Character - a mature expression of virtue, warmth, and personal depth

Could be something to do with the fact that we're constantly being attacked by being told we're sinners, going to hell and other similar utter nonsense.

Why does being attacked bother you? shouldn't you be turning the other cheek and forgiving? Surely your God will protect you from the nasty atheists asking sensible questions that you can't answer.

I don't see atheists stopping people in the street or knocking on people's doors telling them to change to their way of thinking.

I'm quite happy to leave Christians alone with their insane and unsupportable beliefs but when they try to impose them on me and my family they must be prepared for me to defend my right to have a different point of view.

Attack christians? That's fairly uncommon.

We may argue often with them, criticize their beliefs for being silly and, more importantly, harmful. They are actively trying to make policy decisions based on what primitive people in mud huts predicted the world was like, they are using their outdated and outmoded holy books to justify hatred, restrict freedoms, impair the progress of human knowledge and medicine, and so on. Not to mention places that are majority christian have the highest rates of crime, murder, rape, violence, stds, abortions, and so on.

Then take into account that Atheists are the most hated and discriminated minority in America according to several recent studies. We are seen as a greater threat to the American way of life than some terrorists! We are also the least likely to be elected into office and the minority least likely for a parent to let their children marry.

Frankly, Christians are self-destructive and staggeringly immoral people (in general, there are obviously exceptions) and somebody has to challenge their absurd notions before they once again bring us into the dark ages.

I do not attack Christians. However, when a majority of the people in your country base their beliefs on a book that tells you that you will burn in hell if you do not believe what is in the book, it is only natural that you be concerned. Although I do not believe the Bible is true, it does concern me. Therefore, I have to ask those who do believe it, what makes them believe it? If I live my life and try to do what is right, it does not make sense that I will burn in hell anyway. I have tried to believe the Christian story, but cannot seem to make myself believe it. I guess I feel like I am missing something…..

It is actually a two way process, the Christians curses the Atheists to hell and the Atheists laughed at the Christians.

Probably the same thing causing Christians to attack atheists.

You'll find most atheist here don't attack christians; but do defend themselves when atheists are attacked.

Both Christians and atheists have a small obnoxious minority that likes to attack the other side.

Making sweeping generalizations are one of the most certain ways of being wrong.

Why does anyone attack another? Because they see the other person / group to be "different" and are letting their ego control them. The ego is fear based so attacks to "feel better" about itself, of course this is a false belief. The answer to all this is to Love.
Love God, Love Others, Love Yourself

It's usually the other way around... I've never attacked a Christian for their beliefs.

I was raised Christian, fyi. And let me tell you, Christians, in general, need to relax.

I mean, Christians act as if they're God sometimes. That's what bothered me most. Everyone telling me that I'm going to hell for this or that, and last I checked, God is supposed to be a loving and forgiving God.

And just a reminder, let him without sin cast the first stone.
