The Texas governor is a little off base and quite irresponsible - that is unless he is willing to be held personally responsible for the deaths of his states citizens from guns.
It would be wise to ban guns in public places like churches, schools, hospitals, bars, restaurants, etc.
I reside in a country where the posession of licensed firearms is legal. However, the registration procedure is very strict. And the firearms cannot be carried into public places such as movie theatres, hospitals, bars, shopping malls, schools, hotels, etc. And people are searched as they enter. Any weapons they are carrying are held by building security forces until they leave.

Well, I'm not so sure I agree with taking them to bars or courthouses. Churches and other places like that, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Actually, there aren't many places they can stop you from taking a gun. Though I don't live in Texas, but Ky, I take mine everywhere with me except into the bank... for obvious reasons. I don't want to get arrested because someone "thinks" I'm going to rob the bank.
I wouldn't call myself a vigilante. lol I'm not out to fight crime where ever I see it, damn I would be busier than a one-armed bandit in a jewelry store. I do it for protection for myself and my family.
No, it doesn't scare me at all.... I carry a gun just as well as those other people do. I wouldn't say it's the solution to our nations problems and I seriously doubt everyone will be carrying a gun. I believe that people like that are just as extreme as those who think making guns outlawed will stop people from committing crimes with guns. Neither side is thinking the situation thru... and though, I don't have many answers on how to handle it myself, I wouldn't say either side of this extreme has it right either.

Considering what the requirements are in order to be able to carry concealed in Texas, and considering the historical evidence that those who are licensed to carry concealed are far LESS likely to be involved in a shooting than those who are not, I don't have a problem with it.
The problem isn't what law-abiding citizens do with their guns. The problem is what criminals do with them. Because by definition, criminals don't care about laws. That's why if you "ban all guns", then it will only affect the law-abiding citizens. Criminals won't care. They'll still have guns.
VT, Columbine, Pennsylvania, Luby's... all of these were posted "gun-free" zones, so those who are looking for easy (read: unarmed) targets know that going there means that they are unlikely to encounter resistance.
Criminals aren't nearly as daring when there's a chance that their victims might be able to actually fight back.

Yee haw. I'm from Arkansas it sounds good to me.
As long as those carrying the guns are legal to do so and SANE.
What happened in Virginia could have been a lot better if someone could have stopped the crazy man.
Criminals will carry guns anyway because they are criminals. Why can't honest law abiding citizens?
We have the right to keep and bare arms in this country.

good one about a governor from Texas. They cause them to slightly diverse there. yet apart from that, i imagine hid carry makes countless experience. in the starting up, those who legally license their guns are hardly ever fascinated with a offender action. They recognize that possessing and having a gun is a severe duty. and they take care of it as such. countless the crimes being dedicated are with the help of persons who do not take care of possessing a gun as a duty, and fairly take care of it with a view to terrify or intimidate human beings. If one has a gun, they have a lot less of a favor to be intimidated with the help of those human beings.

I live in Houston, TX...where the crime rate has sky-rocketed since Hurricane Katrina and Rita...all the evacuees came here...and while I have met many who are very pleasant and friendly a lot of the criminals came here too..it really isn't safe to walk around at night anymore without a gun. I was looking for a new apartment online and everywhere I check the crime rating is terrible and usually has a warning that women should not walk alone at night. Scary.

I firmly agree with "Guns don't kill people..." the condition of man is terrible. Giving heathens access to a certain type of weapon is not going to ensure more crime or less crime. You're a believer? God is still at the helm, Romans 13 should calm your fears. We live in a country that allows voting, so my duty as a Christian is to cast my vote. I trust you will do the same as the Spirit leads you.

I agree 100% with the Texas governor.
Statistics show that where gun ownership and carrying a gin is legal crime rates are much lower.
Crime rates are lower in part because in places where gun owners live the attrition rate for criminals is much higher and fewer people enter criminal profession is this why you are frightened by gun carrying?

If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.
The 'bad guys' can get guns easily, illegally. So no matter what, they'll be able to arm themselves.
So...do you want the 'good guys' to be armed as well to level the 'playing field,' or should we remain easy targets for anyone brandishing a firearm?

It makes sense to me. The more weapons of immediate death that are on the street, the safer we all are from them. Sure, in a civilized society we need to be able to kill each other at the drop of a hat, in the interests of everyone's safety.
