If today's Christians followed the teachings in the Bible, they wouldn't have any money, They would live in a shack, they would walk everywhere they went, they would give any thing extra they had to the poor, and if they held something back through desire or greed, God would strike them dead.
Guess there are no real Christians around, and no God either.

Jesus said it's "difficult" for a rich person to enter Heaven; He didn't say it's "impossible" (Matt. 19:23-24). We must be sure we don't place mammon above God.
Tithing is only demanded from Christians who attend churches lead by folks who don't understand the NT equivalent of giving monetarily to God. Within most (not all) of these churches, the poor are expected to tithe. I think this is a vile practice, especially when you realize the tithe was supposed to help SUPPORT the poor. But apparantly these Churches have not actually READ the Mosaic Law.
Read Revelation 3:14-22 to know what Jesus says to many believers today. (Synopsis: He's not very pleased.)

Why does God approve of some Christians being wealthy?
It's not about being wealthy, it's how you use your wealth. That's what God judges, not that you made a successful career.
And why is tithing demanded from poor Christians?
If you believe in God then tithing is giving back to him, because what you get in life was made possible because of him. You are not forced to tithe but you are giving back what is his to begin with. God sets paths for us to take, if you take the wrong one it is your fault. The only exception is a child, but still they have an opportunity when they get of age, to make something of themselves.
What would Jesus think of today's "Christians"???
Ask him when you see him! I think we are all too judgmental. To be christian and to judge is not christian at all. We should focus more on our own salvation and making judgments on ourselves rather than making them on others.

God approves of wealth only when those who have it do not make it the center of their universe. Jesus was once confronted by a rich ruler who asked him, "How can I inherit eternal life?" Jesus replied, "By following the commandments." The man then said, "I have kept all of those since my youth." Jesus then said, "Then give your money to the poor and come follow me." The man was saddened by this because he couldn't bear to part with his money. All money comes from God...if you give to those in need and do not make money your god...there is no problem with anyone having money. Tithing is something ALL CHRISTIANS are asked to do...and no one is forced to tithe...and no one would even be confronted by a member of the church if they didn't...the Bible says God will bless you if you sow into his kingdom, but no one tithes unless they want to...not to mention the Bible says if you give without having the desire to give...you might as well keep your money. As for what Jesus would think of today's Christians...I'd be more interested to know what he thinks of today's atheists.

When we die we may find out how much God approved of us being wealthy.
Don't you believe in the blessings of tithing?
Mal. 3: 10
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Of course I can't say that giving money to a Televangelist is really giving money to the Lord. I do not like to see rich preachers either.
Not all religious leaders are rich. Even in "wealthy" churches.

All of what we have is given to us by our generous GOD. The bible asks for us to tithe a merely 10% of what GOD has given to us. That is a very small amount considering what HE has given to us. Also I dont think GOD necessarily deems some people to be rich and others poor. Being a Christian doesn't mean we have to be poor. If you are fortunate enough to be a wealthy Christian think of all the extra oppertunities you have to bring others to Christ? Isn't that the untimate goal on this world?

I would not use demand for tithing, your not going to go to hell for not paying your tithes. God blesses each and everyone according to His will. The reason why some arent wealthy is because some cant handle what God will bless them with, think of the prodigal son and how he wasted all that money.

Yeah.I thought Jesus said in Matthew 19:24 that a camel is more possible to go through an eye of a neddle than a rich man going to the Kingdom of God.

God states in the Bible that he will provide all that He wants you to have if you live your life in his faith. If you follow the tenants of the Bible you will have the rewards He feels you deserve and that he wants you to have. But, if you worship Money over God, you are worshipping a false idol. Thusly, if God so chooses to reward people of faith with wealth for their hard work and deep seated faith, it is His judgement alone and not ours to make.
Tithing is a way for every Christian to support their church and give so that those with less than you have something and that the Church can perform its ministries and outreach. You tithe what you can when you can.
Jesus knows all people are sinners and that they are weak. Jesus died on the Cross for our sins and His Love and the Love of God are all forgiving so long as you pray for the forgiveness of your sins and work resolutely to live a life in the manner in which Christ so spoke. We are all making mistakes every day, we all sin as we are human. God and Jesus understand this and forgive us our sins and transgressions.

Why wouldn't a father want his children to be prosperous? Tithing isn't demanded in the new testament, but tithing brings blessings. Having a giving heart also brings blessings as what you give is multiplied back to you.
