yes, if you choose to drink.
beer has more calories and more carbs.
hard alcohol has less calories (40-50cal a shot) unless you mix it with soda, so if you want to drink -take some straight shots.

It is really about quantity. Here is a helpful link:

Beer and alcohol both have calories, but beer has more carbs. If you are trying to get drunk then most people can have two or three hard alcohol drinks and be drunk, while it may take five or six beers. With each beer being 200-400 calories a pop that is a lot of calories in one sitting.

My favorite low calorie alcohol drink is gin and soda with a lime. The gin is one of the lighter calorie alcohols and soda water has no sugar or calories. Make sure they DO NOT give you tonic water. It has 46 grams of sugar! If you don't like soda water try diet soda or crystal light. There really are endless possiblities with alcohol and staying on a diet. You just have to be creative.

oh yea! Beer is very bad if you are trying to lose weight. You can try light beers but even then its alot you are taking in. Try vodka and soda if you really need to drink, but stay away from diet drinks as they contain a lot of empty cals.

Wine is the lowest calorie way to drink. Or drink Michelob Ultra. Hard alcohol is very high in calories, like 100 for just one ounce.

Beer by it's very nature is fattening. It's basically liquid bread. Any unsweetened liquor or wine (no mixers) is a better alternative if your looking to loose a few pounds. In moderation of course.
