they're attempting to placed the democrats in a "free- free" mission i have self belief. They tell the commonly used public many times in the journey that they dont get the billions and billions of bucks they pick for this conflict than our troops received't have the right kit etc etc. So the democrats at the prompt are in a "sticky" position becuase they're going to seem undesirable to reject this unnecessarily tremendous quantity of funding, so what are they supose to do. there develop right into a vote in the present day and so a recommendations the democrats are sticking by way of their guns saying that they arent going to fund the conflict. that is clearly politicians doing what they do superb, minipulating. As for prevailing the conflict...per chance we may be able to assert we broke even?? and thats a stretch. prevailing isn't achievable. I see human beings speaking about how if we withdrawal the terrorists will come and attack and we will be risky, yet i'd pick to make sure one argument for being safer in the present day than on 9/11. What has replaced? Oh Sudam is useless, and that i wager the persons who observed him, arent pissed or no longer something, someone worse will purely take his position, and likely there are lots of worse those who truly have it out for the US.

The war was won about 4 years ago. We are trying to win the peace. We can lose that anytime we decide we do not have the national will to continue. War by definition is typically “a prolonged large scale conflict” - this could be used for a war on terror but not for what is happening day to day in Iraq. In case you missed it check out the wording "large scale conflict"

Wining the peace for the US I think will be when we can withdraw our troops and the elected government of Iraq can support themselves in holding the peace.

We don’t do force on force training anymore – it’s all about actions on contact - Unnamed LT – 1/10 Cav - Iraq.

Why does everyone keep on calling it a war? It's no longer a war since the other nation's military has been defeated. What it is is now a CONFLICT. There is no clear enemy out there but terrorists and insurgents.

Setting a timetable for withdrawal is just like telling all the bad guys to get ready to spread more chaos and mayhem. Pulling out would be worst. You would paint a picture of a weak America which in turn would in invite more terrorist attacks at home - more emboldened ones!

I don't believe that we are there for oil. We are there to keep them busy on their turf. And to bring in Walmart....not the oil.

If we win and Iraq becomes a DEMOCRACY, the Shiite Majority would elect Muqtada al Sadr and he would dissolve the Quisling Government we installed.

There is no winning there, specially for those already dead, yet to be killed, already disabled for life and yet to be disabled. But billions of dollars spent and all this social, political and mental damage done, the "war" will drag on for years and years and, at the end, the USA military will leave with no glory.

i think in order to 'know' when we have won, we would need to know the true reason why we went there in the first place.

so far, we don't really know.

we do know that every reason that we have been given has turned out to be an outright lie or grossly innacurate.

we also know that iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, american security or the war on terror.

our govt is completely out of control!

We won't 'win' the 'war' in Iraq. We don't care if we 'win' the 'war' in Iraq. We have no intention of 'bringing democracy' to Iraq. All we want is Iraq's OIL. We're building the largest U.S. embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad, overlooking the 'new' Iraqi government which the Bush administration installed. We WILL NOT leave Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL out of that nation's sands. -RKO- 05/02/07

Hi!
I would say when the Iraqi's can take care of themselves and our brave troops can come home. Then, we have finally "won." But the real question is, at what cost???
