I have been exercising for about 2 weeks and trying to eat better for a month and a half, but for some reason I can't lose my "muffin tops" (fat around my hips--when I put on jeans, the fat gets smooshed up and it looks like the top of a muffin). I am so frustrated. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lose weight on that part of the body?

we cant choose which body parts to lose the weight off - it has to be overall weight loss. be patient - 2 weeks is not enough to see difference, give it more time.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

First of all, get jeans that fit. Pants that fit properly won't give you a muffin top.

Second, don't give up. Depending on how much weight you need to lose, that area is sometimes the hardest to go. You've only been exercising for two weeks... give it another couple months.

I have an exercise belt that I use when working out. It's made of neoprene and covers your entire trunk. I also have a pair of neoprene shorts for my saddle bags. It basically traps your body heat in the areas it covers and makes you sweat excessively in those areas, relieving water weight.
Also, are you doing area specific exercises like crunches/sit ups? If you are STOP! Think about it. You're working these muscles and building them up -in other words - making them bigger. You can't see the muscle definition behind the fat, it just looks like you haven't lost weight/gotten bigger "muffin top". A total body aerobic work out is best. You'd be surprised how much sweat you work up, especially wearing neoprene, just taking a brisk walk.
