Sexual orientation (sex preference) is something that exists at birth and is manifest later in life; probably starting in about age 12 or later. This is something that cannot be changed since it is part of our genetic makeup. There are those who say God makes all things. So, if this is true why would he make approx. 10% of everyone homosexual?

About 5% of all babies born become homosexual.

Based on these and other findings, modern research shows that homosexuality is certainly genetic. By comparison, the genetically determined trait of left-handedness is similar. This trait also occurs at a universally constant rate (about 8%). So the latest research reveals a predetermining genetic factor.

Humans with a specific genetic predisposition become homosexual. Which leaves us with a key problem: Why would God create our genes to operate in such a way that 5% of all babies, the result of male-female intercourse, will grow into adults who prefer male-male or female-female intercourse?

And why would He ever want to punish someone who has a trait that He himself had built into our very nature?

I personally feel that both possiblitiles exist. I have known people that with out a doubt, from adn early age they showed tendencies to be homosexual. A good childhood friend had a little brother that always seemed more feminine. He is infact gay, and has been out since highschool. I think many people are born that way. I do however think that some people choose to become gay. My aunt is a lesbian. She has 4 children and has been married 5 times (6th to a woman). She says she wants someone who loves her for her. I think if a man did that she would be with him. I also feel it is trendy and a little tabu so young people are claiming to be bisexual. I don't really get that, but I think some people are just more open to experiences. Homosexualtily is apparent in nature and has been around since the beginning of time. I believe God does make all things, and like genetic deformities, diseases etc... they exist. I also believe gay, straight, what ever, if you believe that Jesus Christ is your lord and savior you will go to heaven.

Confusion in 'gender roles' usually comes from not being exposed to strong examples of both sexes, and having a cold uncaring parent or parents. It is reinforced if the child's authority figure imposes femininity on a boy, or masculine traits on a girl. Practically speaking, child molesters create Homosexuals, Matthew 18:6.

Prove to anyone that it is present at birth.
Genetic make-up? Don't tyou think after a few hundred years, there wouldn't be anymore homosexuality since they do not reproduce with each other?
God does not author this, this is a choice, a human's choice.
Kinsey's report on the percentage of homosexuals in society would have been entirely different if he had not conducted his polls and surveys in a men's prison.

I can't speak for God but, if he is responsible for the sexual spectrum, then he probably did it to weed out those who would cast judgment in His Name. In this way His more tolerant and loving adherents would not have to stand in a long queue come Judgment Day.

I cannot answer for other religions. However in the Native American culture we believe that there are those born with two spirits, one male and one female. That is a great blessing!

Why would he make someone with Asperger's? Why would he make someone with Down's? Why would he make someone white with light blue eyes? Why would he make someone with sickle cell anemia? Why would he make someone with small bones?

I think these are naturally occurring adaptations and mutations. God created people...and people just beget more and more people of differing combinations of dna.

It would certainly seem that way.

While I don't believe in god, myself, I still love the words of Butters on South Park: "If I was made in the image of god, and I am bi-curious, well then god must be a bit bi-curious himself."

Sexual orientation is a popular form of orienteering that requires players to navigate through the bush using only a map, compass, and the full moon.
