This morning I woke up and one of my eyelids is swollen! This has never happened to me before, why is it swollen?? It's not red or itchy, or hugely swollen...just a little. Enough so you can see the difference from my eyes. I'm 19, and I just started a job that requires me to be up very early...could the big transition be a reason why? Or maybe that i sleep on my side? HELP! And what can i do for it??

As a physician I see this condition often . It sounds likely that you have a hordeolum otherwise known as a stye, its caused by the glands that lubricate your eyelashes getting clogged. It may also be a chalazion . A hordeolum will result in a lid that is tender to the touch. Warm compresses alternating with cold compresses may help. Antibiotics are not effective although some docs still prescribe them. Occasionally the lid becomes infected than antibiotics would be important. that rarelly happens If you dont get improvement in a day or if the swelling worsens see your doctor There is an article below that explains these conditioons

Well, get a wash cloth and put hot water on it and just gently press it one your eyelide. It usually take away the swelling. I hope it helps you! As long as it doesn't hurt, you should be fine. Maybe you have a little case of allergies, so I would take some allergie medicine berfore I go off to work.

Sit up and put an ice pack on it for about 10 minutes. Drink lots of water. Usually any puffy eyes that you have when you first wake up will de-puff within an hour or so. Reduce your salt intake, too. Salt makes you retain water, causing you to swell all over. You'll be fine. It's going to go away.

it's probably just a temporary irritant got into it, put an ice pack on it for twenty minutes or so, repeat every hour as needed. Leave off the eye makeup for a day or two.
