Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, declared during a Friday sermon at a Sudan mosque that America and Israel will be annihilated and called upon Allah to kill Jews and Americans "to the very Last One."

Sounds peacefull to me. All peacefull Muslims, please defend your religion, isn't it time for the Islamic Reformation, who has the courage to be the Haji Martin Luther? or does your apathy act as acquiescence

You talk about one man and his big mouth. What do you have to say about 240, 000 people involved in a mass murder and destruction of a country. Does that ring a bell? 140,000 US soldier and 100,000 mercenaries (terrorists really!!) in Iraq doing god's work. And also remember the good work that is about to start in Iran and Syria and who knows where else. As far as that one crazy is concerned, you can keep him too, we don't need him

Brother i'm a muslim and that i can teach that Islam is the religion of peace. once you've a challenge with Islamic historic previous of any impartial author you'll ought to settle for what i'm gonna say. that is written on the pages of historic previous in golden words that once Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.) conquered Makkah, He forgave all of His enemies regardless of of their malicious and spiteful attitude in course of newely switched over Muslims. will be you're saying that He develop into the Prophet so He develop into variety adequate and through Him, His companions and caliphs were also variety. yet brother, an somewhat later emperor, Salah-ud-Din Ayyubi proved it back that Islam is the religion of peace as at the same time as he conquered Jerusalem, he gave an undemanding clemency to all jews and christians. Sultan Muhammad Fateh at the same time as conquered Constantinople, prolonged astounding liberal treatment to city's christian inhabitants. the way effective Muslims have dealt with the subjected human beings is itself a good evidence for my fact. And it can't be negated that the peace that Islam provides is between the previous motives for outsiders to remodel in course of Islam.

judging from some of the posts on here by some refering to themselves as Christians could also make 1 believe that Christianity is not a peaceful religion as well. But being a former Christian I am educated to know that all Christians or let me rephrase that... I am educated to know that true Christians are living a peaceful life... same with Muslims, the vast majority are living a true Islamic life of peace.
many can talk the talk but not everyone can walk the walk... all religions included

What an ironic! Can you see that the word "kill" is the opposite of "peace". Who has a right to kill other human and on top of it by using your Allah, your religion. Is that your Allah is the kindest??? I thought "kind" is equal of positive. For me what those persons as your a.m. sounds like a bunch of criminal, no moral at all. And you are too, a criminal. It is the most horrible to hear that someone preaches in the mosque and campaign about the killing, the hatred. See how hypocrite you are and the people as you mentioned above.
The thing is when everything is going wrong, most of the muslims blame others(non islam). It is so easy to blame others for your own act and your own mistakes. For me it is like one has no responsibility at all for ones act. On the name of Allah (who is he/she/it?)and you do the crime.
What do you want to prove? Do you want to prove that you and the bunch are criminal?

wait a minute lets take a look at the "peace"of christianity lets focus on the middle ages the spanish inquisition begining in 1478 and lasted till 1834 between 3000-5000 people were executed as well as the 40000 jews forced to leave there was also the 3 crusades not including the childrens crusades where armies marched to take the holy land in the name of god its not right to compare the atrocities done by one religion to a religion which has commited just as many crimes for there will always be extremists in almost every religion not just the muslim because religion is a human creation and nothing humans create is perfect

You'd have better luck proving unicorns still exist, and a race of displaced faeries reside on the rings of Saturn that are the sole manufacturers and distrubutors of Skittles candy in the entire Universe.

If all the world followed Christianity, then there would be peace. Christians try to accomplish this by missionary work.

There will never be a Haji Martin Luther or Ghandi. Islam accomplishes peace through the violent method of getting rid of non-Muslims. In Islam there is no non-violent way of accomplishing peace.

If all the world adhered to the sharia law, then under the concepts of Islam there would a peaceful utopia. (cf. Sayyid Qutb, Ibn Taymiyya, Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi and Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab) The way Muslims are taught to accomplish that is to get rid of all those who do not follow Allah. Muslims are prepared to kill themselves when getting rid of non-Muslims. That is what the martyr thing is all about.

Qur'an Surah Al-Anfãl (8):39
So fight them (unbelievers) until there is no more fitnah (disbelief or worship of any god but Allah) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)" ... "And fight with them until there is no more fitnah (persecution) and religion should be only for Allah

Allah commands deeds of terror by the believers against the unbelievers as the means of creating the emotion of terror in their hearts. The only reason needed for action is that "they resisted Allah and His Messenger". Such an approach to "conflict management" is nothing to be ashamed about according to Islamic understanding, but it is a basis for pride. According to Islam, it is one reason for the superiority of Muhammad over all other prophets.

Qur'an Surah Al-Anfãl (8):12-13
Recall that your Lord inspired the angels: "I am with you; so support those who believed. I will throw terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved. You may strike them above the necks, and you may strike even every finger. This is what they have justly incurred by fighting GOD and His messenger. For those who fight against GOD and His messenger, GOD's retribution is severe.(Khalifa trans.)

An example of how this translates into the Muslim mindset is from the leader of Hezbollah Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah's August 3rd speech, "As I said, we are not a regular army and we do not use the way of the regular army. We rather use the way of the guerillas. Therefore, it would be useful for us to allow them (Israelis) advance into the entrances of the villages because this will give us a chance of a direct engagement in order to inflict human and materialistic losses upon them. This is our aim on the ground. Our aim is to inflict the largest possible number of human and materialistic losses upon the enemy....It is true that we have a strong and steady volition, yet at the same time, we are full of sympathy, affection and love. We are sympathetic towards our people, our women and our children. "

The verb qatala means to fight and kill.
Qur'ān Sura Barã´ah 9:29
Fight against the people of the book, those of them who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, who do not forbid that which Allah and His messenger have forbidden, and who do not follow the religion of truth (Islam). (Fight against them) till they (agree to) pay ‘jazia’ (the submission tribute) and accept an inferior status (with humiliation and submission to the government of Islam.) (Munir Munshey trans.)

Quod erat demonstrandum: Peace will be accomplished when there are no more non-Muslims. The end justifies the means. Islam is the religion of peace :)

You essentially ask if Islam is the religion of peace, and do Muslims respect Christians?

The death threat came on simple white fliers blowing down the streets of Bethlehem at dawn. A group calling itself "Friends of Muhammad" accused a local Palestinian Christian of selling mobile phones carrying offensive sketches of the Muslim prophet.

The message went on to curse all Arab Christians and Pope Benedict XVI, still struggling to calm Muslim outrage from his remarks on Islam.

While neighbors defended the merchant -- saying the charges in the flier were bogus -- the frightened phone dealer went into hiding, feeling less than satisfied with authorities' conclusion that the note was probably a harmless rant.

Now the dealer is thinking of going abroad.

Call it part of a modern exodus, the steady flight of the tiny Palestinian Christian minority that could lead, some predict, to the faith being virtually extinct in its birthplace within several generations -- a trend mirrored in many dwindling pockets of Christianity across the Islamic world.

This is one of the major themes the pope was expected to carry to Turkey for a four-day visit -- his first papal visit to a predominantly Muslim nation. The Vatican calls it "reciprocity:" Muslim demands for greater sensitivity from the West must be accompanied by stronger protections and rights for Christian minorities.

In some places, such as Pakistan, it means more safeguards from extremist attacks. In Indonesia and elsewhere, it touches on appeals to quell growing sectarian clashes. In Turkey, Iraq and the rest of the Middle East, it seeks to preserve communities dating back to the time when Jesus and his apostles preached.

But nearly everywhere in Muslim lands, Christian populations are in decline.

No place is this more striking than the Holy Land.

For decades, it was mostly economic pressures pushing Palestinian Christians to emigrate, using family ties in the West or contacts from missionary schools. The Palestinian uprisings -- and the separation barrier started by Israel in 2002 -- accelerated the departures by turning once-bustling pilgrimage sites such as Bethlehem into relative ghost towns.

The growing strength of radical Islamic movements has added distinct new worries.

During the protests after the pope's remarks in September, some of the worst violence was in Palestinian areas with churches firebombed and hit by gunfire.

"Most of the Christians here are either in the process of leaving, planning to leave or thinking of leaving," said Sami Awad, executive director of the Holy Land Trust, a Bethlehem-based peace group. "Insecurity is deep and getting worse."

The native Palestinian Christian population has dipped below 2 percent of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Arab East Jerusalem, down from at least 15 percent in 1950 by some estimates. Meanwhile, the Muslim Palestinian birthrate is among the highest in the world.

Dire predictions abound. The Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land said Christians could become "extinct" in the region within 60 years.

"It certainly doesn't look good for us," said Mike Salman, a Palestinian Christian who has conducted studies on demographic trends.

I am not a Muslim, but it is my understanding that these Sheiks are trying to push 7th century doctrine. The Muslim religion made a change in the 8th century that curbed some of the more violent and oppressive tendencies of the religion.
