I'm sorry but Ray2Play is an absolute idiot if you are refering to the brave and very intelligent men and women whom are fighting for our country. People that don't support our troops make me sick! Sorry, I was gonna answer the question but now I think I am going to pray for the idiots in this country that listen to the drive by media instead of thinking for themselves

Why stay, you ask? There are a multitude of reasons, I'll give you a few. Have you got ten minutes and a clear head? Here we go.
First the most honest reason, the oil. It's popular and trendy to use oil like a four letter word, and say it's evil etc., but ask yourself, "did I take a hot shower today? did I buy something from a grocery store or supermarket? did I use electricity? did I ride in a car, bus, or other motorized transportation?" If you can answer yes to any of those questions then you use oil, and to continue living the way you do, you need oil. The best way to make sure we have oil is to ensure a free market. Consequently by installing a government that is acceptable to Iraqis, and somewhat democratic gives a good chance for stability in the largest oil producing country in the world (In the future. Iraq's got the largest reserves.). We (the west) like to use middle eastern oil because it is what is called "light sweet crude." Meaning that it takes less refining than crude extracted from the USA. It is more costly to extract crude from the US and refine it to a useable product than to buy light sweet crude from the middle east. Don't see anyone rallying for more oil wells here or more refineries either, so for the forseeable future we are married to the middle east, her problems are ours. If we had more refineries the price of gasoline and fuel would be cheaper because there would be an increased supply. But over the years refineries have close, partly due to environmental reasons, and partly due to oil companies understanding that the demand will naturally continue to grow, then if they reduce the supply they can get more profit and less inventory, thereby artificially raising the price of oil, much like De Beers artificially raises the price of diamonds. So unless you want to live in the 1890's we will continue to need oil.
Now, the other reasons.
We made a mess, we have to clean it up.
The Iraqi Gov't cannot provide for its own security.
The consequences - known & unknown- should we leave too early.
The surge. General Petreaus said to give him until September, if the situation hasn't improved he will bluntly report it, and then it will be time to reconsider the importance of the mission.
The relevance of the USA; if we leave any demands, boycotts, assurances, promises, that any future US administration will make won't be worth the paper they are written on. Adversaries will know that Americans lack the national will to back policy with military operations.
To prevent hostilities between ethnic, tribal, and religious groups from escalating.
To protect the minority Sunnis from the Shia.
We will reduce the number of troops to a small garrison when and if the Iraqis are able to provide for their own security.

Because the Iraqi people can't fight their own terrorism, alone. They need help, and training. They, the people, want a free society, too, like America, and other countries have, but they don't know how, yet. They're learning, they're getting more choices now, than they ever had. Little girls get to go to school, now, thanks to American and British soldiers. They didn't before, and now, they're finding out that there is a world out there, full of people, that want them to have the same rights, as a male. That's a good thing. Anything worth having, comes at a price, and the Iraqi people are paying it, as well, as we. Have you seen little Iraqi children in Iraq smiling, kissing, and hugging our troops? I have. That alone is worth our troubles, pain, and time there.
God Bless the troops, American, British, and Iraqi.

It is best that we stay. My analogy is that they are a country with a broken leg. America is their crutch. If we leave before they have healed or got back on their feet, they fall down. We can't leave yet because they haven't fully gotten reabilitated. It is selfish to say, "screw em and leave them to suffer out their own war." We just need to help them get to a functional status and be set up to prosper in the future. Then we can leave.

We shouldn't stay in Iraq, everything that could of been accomplished millitarily has been accomplished. Winning the peace must be left up to the Iraqis. Either we leave voluntarily now, or we get chased off the Embassy roof 10 years from now.

We should stay because we haven't finished what we've started. If it turns out that we CAN'T finish it (which is NOT the case yet) then we need to at least clean up some of the mess we made before coming home.

If we leave now all our previous work will be in vain.
We gotta stay till the job is done. Then we can leave everything up to themselves.
