Alright I've cut down on the number of soft drinks I drink. Now it's basically gatorade. But I know eating before going to sleep doesn't help. Although my brother seems to defy this rule.

Maybe you aren't getting enough water. This can often make us feel hungry. Try drinking more water throughout the day. If that's not the problem then maybe a bigger breakfast? I never used to eat breakfast but now that I do I'm not as hungry later in the day. if all else fails, just have something light and drink plenty of water, or maybe some tea or decaf coffee. I like to have low calorie hot chocolate with light whipped cream before bed sometimes.

drink gatorade light if you have to have it - regular gatorade is loaded with sugar (just look at the label). Sugar is the last thing you want to eat/drink before bed. I know this sounds silly, but I literally stand at the sink at 8pm (when I get post dinner munchies) and drink 3 full glasses of water. I am too full after that to honestly eat anything. Yep - have lost now 8 pounds by eliminating snacking at night (and go to gym 3 times a week).

I think the Gatorade is probably causing this hunger by helping your body burn up calories quickly. I know water might not sound as good as Gatorade but now a days there are tons of different flavored water that taste just as good as Gatorade without all the sugar...

It was told by a Dr. that Gatorade is not as healthy as it claims. So if you are thirsty at night drink water. I like to eat Kellogg's Special K Fruit and Yogurt Cereal as the last snack. It tastes good and it will not harm the figure.

I eat...

the metabolic rate actually increases during the first stage of sleep. not eating 4-5 hours before bed time is a great way to slow down the metabolic rate by allowing the body to enter starvation mode sooner than is needed. not eating after "X" time of night is not optimum for fat loss.

do you think pro athletes stop eating at night just because it's 6 o'clock?

some say that as long as you don't go over your caloric allowance, eating before bed doesn't hurt. make sure you eat enough protein at supper to hold you til breakfast. having fruit or popcorn 2-3 hours before bedtime should be OK.

I eat a big fat apple before bed. It's very satisfying.
