am I a racist?

No infact I am an Immigrant that went through the process and am now a citizen of the US. What these illegals are doing is insulting everyone that went through the long long process of getting a citizenship.

I agree. Honestly these people are taking our jobs because our companies don't want to pay our wages. They say they work harder which is true, but there's hard working americans with no jobs working at Mc D's to make a buck to support their family.

You're no racist, you worked hard for what you are now. So Congrads on being a citizen and welcome.

You are not being racist, just ignorant to what some of proposals actually say. You have listened to the pundits who have the 10-30 second sound bytes and have taken their word as gospel
It will not be free. As it stands right now
to apply for residency
application fee $550.00
For work permit$550.00
For this "path to citizenship they are proposing"
For every year they were here
1) They have to pay BACK TAXES
2) they have to pay a fine of about $2000
3) Retaining an immigration attorney to do paperwork alone is about $1,500- $3,000
total so far:- $4,600-$6,700 and this does not count the back taxes.
On the minimum wages most of these people get, they won't meet those levels.
They have to go to back of the line ,so to speak, of those who already put in their paperwork.
then when they become residents, they would have to wait the 5 years before they could apply for citizenship, which would be another $550.00
In the meantime, they will be paying taxes. The process could possibly take about 11 years.
So it is not free

I also went thru the process to get my US citizenship, but nobody is saying we should give them their papers free. First of all, they would pay a fee just like everyone else, secnd of all, they shoulf get the Green Card first and then take the exam like others. Also, they will be paying taxes just like others so the country would benefit from it as well.

I love how people feel entitled to certain things.

Congratulations on going through the proper channels to get here. Does that make you any less of a citizen if someone else didn't have to work as hard as you did?

Guess what. I worked hard through school, got my degree, work my *** off in my job. I make a decent salary. I read in the newspaper this morning that someone that dropped out of High School is making more money than I am. Does that mean that companies shouldn't hire people who don't have degrees because those who went to college spent more and therefore are *entitled* to the best paying jobs?

**** happens. Work on making your own life better and not on making other people's lives worse. Stop feeling like the world OWES you something just because you were lucky enough to be born in the USA, or had the means to become a citizen legally.

If it was difficult for you to become a citizen then you would understand the plight of the millions of people who are fighting for a cause rather than feeling superior for whatever lucky straw you drew in life.

Edit: And you can give me as many thumbs down as you please, it just proves my point and doesn't change the fact that we aren't entitled to **** in this life. Be glad for what you have and don't piss and moan about what you don't.

Many factories, manufacturers and farm hire illegal aliens because they know they can pay them well below the minimum wage that is required by law.

If all of these illegal aliens become legal citizens, then they won't work for less than minmum wage. The farmers will need to find more illegal aliens. Meanwhile, the new legal immigrants will be unemployed.

Does anybody see a viscious cycle here?

No you are not a Racist but a Realist, you see there are those in this Country that want all the rights of being here
but none of the responsibilities that come with it (Taxes,
Etc.) I want anyone who genuinely wants to be a Citizen
to fulfill that dream...but to realize that the dream doesn't
come cheap
