It was fine to start with but then the picture and sound started to jump and flash. I turned the programme off but it continued to do it. The rest of the tv is fine, video and freeview is fine. I unplugged a yellow cable - this made the sound fine again but no picture. Plugging it back in made both sound and picture jump. Any ideas? Is it the cable or the tv or the dvd player?

Did you buy it from Walmart? Seriously, I bought three for Christmas and all of them did this. They are crappy.

If you can create the problem by jiggling the cable around, then it might be the cable, or more likely, the connector on the DVD player or the TV. Try jiggling it around right by the connectors to the TV and the DVD player, to see if that causes problems on demand. If that causes the problem (or makes it noticeably better or worse) at either end, it's probably that connector, or possibly just that end of the cable. If it doesn't cause the problem, then it might an internal problem with the player, or less likely with the TV input.

usually the yellow cable is attached for viewing purposes, you might want to check where that yellow cable is attached to. If it is attached to the TV, make sure that the cable is properly plugged in. If it is plugged in the VCR which is Plugged in to the TV, that sometimes causes problems...so connect it directly to the TV...another possibility might be, that what ever you are playing is damaged.....

our freeview was like that, with blurry text as well, so i just bought a scart lead and that sorted it. but my DVD has being jumping and stuttering on DVDs recently, but working fine on CDs.

also, LOL to michelle, we have asda over in UK, which is US Walmart owned, and i totally agree with you.

it is possible that it is the cable, i had this problem with a (excuse the spelling) SKART LEAD, it would sometimes come out slightly, losing sound.
