In life there are three things...faith, hope and love. Where do you put your faith? No, it doesn't have to be a religion if that is not your path to a spiritual life. I personally would rather put my faith in my God. For those who have suggested that perhaps I should just go to the mythology area for that, forget about it! I have a right to be here. This is an area for open discussion. How can we learn more about others around us if we shut them out. I cannot put my faith in science, because I know that can be affected by the human element just as religion can. But, I don't feel like I take my life in my hands by going into a church. I feel safe putting my life in God's hands. Doctors, on the otherhand, I am not so sure about. But, I do think that there have been some amazing accomplishments in science. I just choose to think that they are not random acts.
But, what do YOU put your faith in? Please, no rude comments to anyone or about anyone. Can we try an open discussion?

To Joe D: "I have more faith in science than religion. Praying has never healed a person, its never been the root cause of the healing. Science is performed by humans; humans mess up once in a while."
Sorry...but I do believe in the power of prayer. And, as for humans messing it up once in a while....well...I think they mess up more than that.
I believe that there is more than just this world, and that we, all humans, should be trying to make this world work the best it can...we fall far short of that. So, I hope for a human awakening to the global problems that exist and people working to repair the damages.

So, you trust in God to protect you, but if you get into an accident, you don't necessarily trust the doctors to make you better? A questions intended to make you think about it, not a smart a** one.
What do I believe in? Myself, humans, human nature, nature in general. I'd probably be classified as a humanist.
I have more faith in science than religion. Praying has never healed a person, its never been the root cause of the healing. Science is performed by humans; humans mess up once in a while.
Religion is also messed up by humans as well. But its especially when they say "this book is inspired by god", then I read/hear about a particular book called Leviticus where it says to stone disobedient children and other various social outcasts.(gays and whores and what not)
In science, sometimes a cure is found by accident, sometimes it is the goal of the research. I haven't read it, and after this post I believe I will, but I say a headline a day or two ago that said they might have found a way to reverse Alzheimer's. I believe this to be science and not some miracle provided by a deity of any sort.

The Nicene Creed
We believe in God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfilment of the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

I disown loving anyone, I have no faith in any stupid ideas, and I hope I win the lottery some time before I'm 90 years old. I don't trust doctors because they force the FDA to approve harsh and dangerous "experimental" drugs that kill thousands of people per year.
I'm not being rude either. That, which I just typed, is called "direct truth".

I put my faith in God. And you are right about those three things: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love! (It's in the Bible. 1Corinthians 13:13)
I think that w/ God's love, faith and hope come along w/ it. The more your love for God grows, the more you have faith in Him and the more your hope in Him grows.
God bless.

"We are all part of the One Spirit. When you experience the true meaning of religion, which is to know God, you will realize that He is your Self, and that He exists equally and impartially in all beings."
