DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!
In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies' pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to all of your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May

Its a great idea, but its been tried a few times already with little result. Either the gas companies will get together and drop the prices for that day and make up the losses later on in the week/month when they raise them back up, or they'll make bumper profits on the days before and after as people just skip the day and gas up a day before or after.
One thing that I have found that does work is boycotting individual stations. When Hurricane Juan hit the Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada area, one station gouged its customers the morning after the huricane. The members of the Halifax Gas Buddies site organized together and spread the word that everyone should avoid visiting that station.
It worked and that station eventually got driven out of business. Target the station(s) that is constantly high, raises prices first, slow to lower prices, etc. and make your statement that way.

The US is a gas guzzling nation whose gas prices are still lower than most western democracies.
Raise awareness if you want to, but be aware, the stuff is going to run out eventually, and the US is using the stuff up more quickly than anywhere else, despite the price.

You are the biggest moron. Here's why.
Not pumping gas one day would never influence anything. NOT DRIVING would. By not buying gas one day, everyone would buy gas 14th or 16th. Which at the months end, would reflect no difference.
This is just showing that you're so dependent on gas that you can't go more than one day without pumping. Good luck, lady.

a better way to beat this would be instead of not buying gas, which they'd laugh at since we're inconveniencing ourselves, is to not buy gas from the 2 leading gas companies - exxon and mobil. they'll be forced to lower their prices, since they cannot get rid of the gas, and the other companies will be forced to follow. and this is a long term thing we can keep doing. the longer we go, the lower the gas prices

It's not true. The only way to have an effect is to use less gas, then you buy less gas. Everyone would have to participate worldwide. I'm all for it, but it's not about buying less on one day. That's not even a blip on the radar.

This "protest" simply will not work. Why? Read the link it can explain it better than I can.
