He's just a man. Its the philosophy that counts. Its like judging Bill Clinton as a bad President because he screwed some woman in the oval office. Stupid. One has nothing to do with the other, no matter how deporable the act.

I wish he would take that chip of his shoulder and have a proper debate with a theologian like Alister Mcgrath ( Dawkins God and Dawkins Delusion) . His is an embarrassment to many thinking atheists like Michael Ruse who said The God Delusion makes me embarrassed to be a atheist. The fact is he uses selective arguments like piking out fundamentalists to paint a picture of faith and ignoring the moderate and educated . And using pseudo science like memes to create a offensive idea that religion is a virus which stretches evolutionary theory beyond its boundaries. He should of stuck with zoology were he is competent I'm afraid he has no understanding of theology and the history and use of faith he is just behaving like a fundamentalist who can't stand diversity of thought and ideas the atheists could have a better spokesman.

I don’t think Richard Dawkins is “militant” at all. Yes, he is highly devoted to the cause of promoting rationality and banishing religious piety, and its stifling influence on society, but he isn’t offensive. Every debate I have seen him in, and in most of the books he writes, he tends to express himself in a cordial manner. His attacks might have a devastating effect on his opponents, but that has more to do with the cogency of his prose, than any vulgarity or condescension that might be contained in them. Quite frankly I see much more vitriol coming from the opposition.

Your decision on whether to align yourself with Dawkins, and likeminded people, should not be based on their disposition, even if they seem particularly crass. What should be the determining factor in who you choose to side with is whether that person has made his case properly and convinced you.

In our quest for truth, it is preferable to be nice and not to offend anyone, but sometimes the truth offends. Having our world held hostage by political correctness and the inclination to sugarcoat everything, only blinds us from the truth.

Richard Dawkins uses the Atheist stance for fame and monetary gain, much like prostitution.

In my opinion, he is no different than the Fanatical Religious people he complains about. He wants to take away people's freedoms just as such as the Fanatics do. Actually, he's damn near close to stating he wants to Brainwash people so that they believe like him...... To force people to quit believing in something he doesn't like. I used to have respect for the man, but when I heard a few interviews others had with him concerning this, I lost that respect for him. He may be great in his field, but he obviously is just as blind as any other Fanatic in the world.

I am a bible believing Christian. I also believe that Richard Dawkins, or anyone else, has the freedom to state their opinions how they choose, even if I find them offensive.

I find him to be uninspiring and overly aggressive, myself. Certainly not the person I'd choose to be my 'atheist pope' if there were such a position.

Still, he's better than the crap spewed from the mouths and keyboards of Christians like Eds down there.

Eds:

On the outside chance your deity exists (which he provably doesn't... but I digress)... he can go himself.

My morals are far more important to me than such a monstrous being.

Dawkins refuses to sugar coat his message. He's not running for office.

Swept,
His name is actually Richard Dawkins. I just hope that he realizes his error prior to his death so that he may become a Christian and be forgiven of his sins. Otherwise, he will face the Judgment and end up in eternal Damnation. Have a great day and a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

EDIT...
I love you anyway JP and GOD does too.
