I want to connect my backing up camera and need a power and a ground. Two wires go into the socket - solid black and black with yellow stripe. It would be so nice to do it right the first time.

could be either best to use a test light and be sure hook lead to ground and probe the wires when it comes on you got the positive the other one is the ground question what is the fuse rating your puling power from you may overload it it may be better to string a new set of wires that will handle the load as some newer vehicles run wire sizes that can only handle small loads

usually black is the ground. u might want to hook up a test light to the one with the yellow stripe and c if it lights up.
