I have trouble breathing from my nose, it always feels blocked and very dry inside, sometimes sore and bleeds a little. I think the air in the office is very dry. Sometimes I 'sniff' water to moisten it inside and then blow my nose, this helps a little, but only for a short time. I'm ashamed to say, but this discomfort leads me to pick my nose very often!

hey sterimar do a saltwater nasal spray to help moisten your nose. i get sore capped skin around my nose in winter when the wind dries my nose and i find vaseline really helps soothe it and keep it from happening again; the lip therapy tins are handy to keep in handbags and pockets when at work and out and about. Leaving a bowl of water above the radiators or on your desk should help moisten the air around you if you boil the kettle and use the water the steam should help. try not to blow your nose too hard or pick at it however difficult it may be as you could damage the mucus membranes and blood vessels and do more harm in the long term.

To clear my nose when mine is blocked, I sometime chew menthol gum like Airwaves and that clears it quite well. If it's been a problem for ages, you might be best to go to the docs. There's a problem with adenoids (or summat! I think one of the symptoms is a blocked nose!). Also, a bit of a wild guess, but is your diet good? My (nearly) sister in law (who's still only a teenager) eats total c r ap, and she is constantly with a cold and a blocked nose. If she goes away on holiday and is away from all the sugary/additive/colourant/e-number full food that she shovels down her mouth 24 hours a day, then it seems to clear up somewhat. Maybe you have an allergy? You can get that tested though to narrow down the chances.

The block may be due to cold, dust or due to growth of tissues(muscles) inside the nose. First you need to find out the root cause for it and get the treatment accordingly.

You can take some candies that contains menthol such as halls. It will give you relief from the block..

I work in a dry atmosphere too, i suggest that you regularly clean your nose and drink lots of water to rehydrate your body.

Also, take plenty of fresh air and if possible, take your break outside.

Hi Camilla,I believe you may have a condition called,Perennial Rhinitus and this is usually the cause of such
problems,it is treated with normal antihistamines but check with your G.P anyway.

Having the same problem, a doctor told me to use just a smidgen of petroleum jelly around the inside of my nostrils.
