I have been fighting this back problem for years. I've tried pain meds , anti inflammatory meds, shots, the works! I exercise regularly, eat right, don't smoke, don't drinking...but can't seem to stop the pain.

Any suggestions as to alternative methods (stretches, diet, acupuncture, vitamins, ANYTHING) that could help?

Thanks for any and ALL suggestions

all organic diet. detoxing your system on a regular basis and there is a new therapy called spinal decompression which also might help you. Maybe you are exercising to much and need a break or maybe not exercising correctly. Accupuncture also is a good form of pain relief. Contact a chiropractor also. Doctors just want to medicate you not treat you and you problem.

I agree with very short showers, too. OR just take a morning shower and wash your sheets more often. If that is not possible, take a sink bath. Plug the sink and fill it, and after you have your water, add a tiny bit of soap and swish it. If you add the soap to running water it lathers and is harder to rinse off. If you don't have a lot of soap, there is no need to rinse. Then just wash yourself with a washcloth from top to bottom: start by wiping the cloth over your face and hair, neck..then rinse and wring out your cloth...then your shoulders and chest and back....rinse...then your legs and feet...then ditch the cloth without rinsing (you don't want any foot germs in the water.) Then wash your private areas with a new cloth, or you can use a paper towel and throw it away. I do this all the time because right now, I have a leak in my bathroom faucet, so it is a pain to turn it off and on. I take a shower about once every two days, and take a sink bath in between. This will be until the faucet gets fixed. I'm doing fine. I am also a veteran camper, so I know how to make the most of a small amount of water.

A chiropractor could possibly help but I found the results don't last long. Have you tried swimming? It's one of the best exercises for anyone with back problems. Also, learnig stretches from a physical therapist is a great idea. I will not recommend any because you really should be evaulated by a professional first. Best wishes.

from my experience chiropractors are absolutely the best for the type of problem you're having. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.

If you're not overweight that helps tremendously. Calcium and magnesium 500mg twice daily can help with some of the pain. I would recommend Yoga exercises, but only if the chiropractors says it's good for you.

Chiropractor, works for me !!!! But you got to go regularly. Different ones have different techniques. Find one that does the Cox method.
