That is terrible that he tells you your food sucks! Hit him with a frying pan! lol! JK!. This is a pretty easy recipe, If he likes shrimp! It is delicious - I make it all the time for my guy & he loves it! Pretty impressive, too!

Linguine with Shrimp Scampi
Vegetable oil
Kosher salt
3/4 pound linguine
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 1/2 tablespoons good olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
1 pound large shrimp (about 16 shrimp), peeled and deveined
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
1/2 lemon, zest grated
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
1/4 lemon, thinly sliced in half-rounds
1/8 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes

Drizzle some oil in a large pot of boiling salted water, add 1 tablespoon of salt and the linguine, and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, or according to the directions on the package.

Meanwhile, in another large (12-inch), heavy-bottomed pan, melt the butter and olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the garlic. Saute for 1 minute. Be careful, the garlic burns easily! Add the shrimp, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and the pepper and saute until the shrimp have just turned pink, about 5 minutes, stirring often. Remove from the heat, add the parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon slices, and red pepper flakes. Toss to combine.

When the pasta is done, drain the cooked linguine and then put it back in the pot. Immediately add the shrimp and sauce, toss well, and serve.

some times simple is better

how about a whole chicken
and in the cavity season with garlic gloves and thyme
or fresh rosemary and lemon juice
horseradish smashed potatoes
and say green beans or broccoli with cheese sauce
a small side salad with a home made vinaigrette

maybe said boy friend is just busting your chops and said boyfriend doesn't know what good food is
maybe time to get a new boy friend

if you are going into the restaurant business that might become your new boy friend say when you work six or seven days a week on all holiday like new years eve, Christmas day, mother and father day and you work 10 to 14 hours days the restaurant becomes your life.

Chicken fahitas or chicken/steak stirfry. Both are easy to make and can't be called bland.

Fahitas:
- Stovetop, cook the chicken. Add store-bought teriyaki sauce to it.
- Add sliced onion, sliced peppers (red, green, or orange) and a little more sauce. Cook until the veggies are tender.
- Serve with shredded lettace, shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa.

Stir Fry:
- Stovetop, cook the chicken. Add some store-bought teriyaki sauce.
- Chop and add onion, peppers (red or green), and snow peas. Cook until tender. I usually add more sauce.
- Add bean sprouts. Just heat up because they don't take long to become tender.
- Serve over white rice.

Did it occur to you that it just might not be your cooking at all? I mean, what are you doing different lately as far as cooking? Are you sure there isn't a completely different issue, and your bf is just trashing your cooking because he's po'd about something else entirely?

I can so sympathize with you. My husband knows I'm a good cook, but when I say we're having *whatever* for dinner, he cringes. He loves my enchiladas though. It's from epicurious.com. It has a mole sauce and green olives and I make my own tortillas.

Good luck dealing with picky eaters!

How versatile a cook is HE? Does he have a specialty? What is his experience? If he doesn't cook and has a limited pallet then he is the last person you would go to for validation.
