I bought it on eBay for use with a mac mini, running the current version of MacOS.

Short answer - It should.

From Apple -
Minimum System Requirements:
Macintosh

Mac OS 8.1 or later.

AppleWorks 6.2.9 for Mac OS X

AppleWorks 6.2.9 also offers improved printing and resolves issues using web based templates and clip-art on networks using proxy servers.

If Appleworks is the old, pre-Intel G4 version, you may need to use Rosetta Stone to emulate the G4 processor on your Intel Mini.

You could use Neo-Office, if Appleworks won't run, free from Apple downloads. It's free and like M$-Office.
