OK, I just asked a vet and he said, and I quote, "NO! For God's sake, you can't do that!'
His explanation is that even if you use a very dilute solution of it, it will be extremely irritant. Peroxide is irritant to all cutaneous surfaces (skin) particulary to sensitive ear skin.
If you really can't wait to get to the pet store, the only thing that is really suitable is something like olive oil - you need an oil based substance. And do NOT insert it down the dogs ear, stick to the bit of the ear you can see.
However, I would suggest getting him checked at a vet - a bad smell indicates infection. At the end of the day, if you use the wrong stuff you're going to end up making the condition worse, and that will also be more expensive for you, so go to a vet.

NOTE: unless your dog is treated regularly (i.e. monthly) be something like Revolution that prevents ear mites, you cannot be sure it isn't mites.

I have sad news for you. Regardless of how far the pet store is, you have to get something to treat the pup. If you have Tractor Supply Co. in your area, they carry pet supplies. There are also online pet supply houses you can get stuff from by mail.
AND... do you have a Walmart nearby? They have pet supplies!
She may have ear mites. She might have a yeast infection. As a pup, she needs her shots, so you need to take her to the vet in any case, and you should be able to get treatment from the vet and supplies to take home.
Don't ignore it. This is really hard on the pup. A bath won't do it.
One thing you can do RIGHT NOW and not cause problem is put some triple antibiotic ointment on a Qtip and CAREFULLY clean the area of the ear you can see. Don't go down into the ear canal as this can be dangerous if you push the Qtip in too far.
You should get the pads for cleaning your pups ears.
There are drops you can get for ear mites.

It sounds like you got water into his ear canal and it probably is infected. He really should get medication from the vet, but he needs a special ear wash and drops to clear this up. It's a form of a bacterial infection. Make sure when you bathe your dog that no water gets inside his ears to prevent this from happening. Do NOT use peroxide in the ears...it throws off their equilibrium. To better understand what he would feel, put some in your ear and see what your reaction would be. (I did this...it's very weird!)

Your puppy might have ear mites. They cause smelly ears. Also, your puppy might shake his head often. You can do an online search to find out more about ear mites.
You can get some drops from any feed store(where you buy horse and cattle feed) or even at Walmart. Grocery stores sometimes sell them. You can also buy them at a vets office.
Don't ever pour anything into your dog's ears. My husband sprayed some flea spray into my Giant Schnauzer's ears to try to kill a tick that he could not reach, and it caused her to go permantly deaf.
Congratulations on your new puppy!

Has the puppy been to the vet for his check up and vaccinations yet? If not, when you go, the vet will check the ears for ear mites.
Smelly ears could indicate infection though. If you're bathing him, it's possible that moisture is getting into the ear canal...that can cause an infection. Have you been noticing head shaking?
Here's a website on how to clean the ears step by step:

Any other questions, direct them to your veterinarian.

I think the pup may have a yeast infection in its ears.
You can get meds from the store for this, but it is best to let your vet make the decision on what meds to get that are safe for a young pup.
Do not use peroxide, this could damage the ear canal!

Call your vet or a local grooming salon. They will tell you if it is safe. If you do use it, don't pour it into his ear. Use a soaked cotton ball to wipe out his ear. Only clean as far down as you can see. Don't dig down into his ear canal. You could damage his ear. You could also check at PetSmart for a doggy-safe ear wash.

Looks like your dog has an ear infection. You need to take him to the vet and get some medications for that. About the hydrogen peroxide, you can use that if your puppy has a lot of ear wax. (Note: use equal parts of warm water and peroxide, then flush in his ears using a syringe).

No, it dries them out too much and can cause irritation. He might have an ear infection, if his ears smell. Also, vet offices generally have an ear cleaner that they recommend you use, so you can call yours to check.
