i have been doing alot of thinking lately about religion .
i have always read king james bible and taken everything in it literally ,but now iam wondering if man has fabricated alot of it.
would god really want ppl to kill animals back in the old days(moses, noah) to let us be forgiven of sins??
or would he really want a man (jesus) to suffer and die for our stupiditys?/sins?
iam thinking maybe jesus was very close to god and was meant to teach us and that god did give him power to heal, raise dead etc, but that just maybe god never really intended for jesus to die for us!! religious leaders and mean ppl killed him! i think if u look at jesus when he was hanging dying on that cross ...his own words.....MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HATH THOU FORSAKEN ME!!??
i feel maybe jesus never really thought he would die!!
he expected to be rescued by god.
yes i think for what jesus suffered in gods name that he raised him & that someday he will come back and rule.
what do u think? he was chosen

I think you are missing some of the other things Jesus said while on the cross like "It is accomplished" which meant His mission was complete. His mission WAS to save mankind from sin.

Jesus knew He would die. In the garden He said "Father if it be thy will, let this cup pass from my lips." He meant the cup of death which He would soon taste.

He was in such agony contemplating His approaching crucifixion that He began to sweat blood.

Believe me, He knew He was going to die, and Scripture tells us He did it willingly and submissively, like a sheep to the slaughter.

Think hard about what kind of God this is. One that is perfect and all powerful and yet willingly chooses to die such a cruel and humiliating death for us.

No other god created by men throughout history has such love for mankind.

Jesus was also not just "close to God" He was God - part of the Holy Trinity. Consider these verses:

1. Acts 3:15 - Peter said the men of Israel "killed the Author of Life." This can only be God - Acts 14:15 - who made all things.
2. John 1:1 - John writes, "the Word was God."
3. John 1:14 - the Word (who is God) became flesh (Jesus) and dwelled among us, full of grace and truth.
4. John 1:18 - the Greek word for "only-begotten" is "monogenes" which means unique, only member of a kind. It does not mean created. Jesus was not a created being. He has always existed with God the Father and God the Holy Ghost.

If you wish to understand true love, then gaze upon a Crucifix.

The last part first. Jesus was no dummy. He both knew what he was getting into and wasn't wild about the pain. He placed a higher value on doing his Father's will, following the plan. Just before he was arrested, he was praying and three times he asked if there were what we call "loopholes". This and what he said while impaled reveal he was entirely human feelings. "THIS HURTS!!!"

Sacrifice has different meanings. Parents sacrifice for their children. The Israelites sacrificed animals to foreshadow the sacrifice God made with Jesus. Jesus getting them out from under Adam's sin. This was set up from the first prophesy in the Bible. In Genesis, God talking to Satan, "He will bruise you in the head. You will bruise him in the heal."
