Absolutely fine, sometimes they are a bit grumpy but all 3 of mine were fine, just hungry!

Well done on getting your cat neutered :-)
He will be absolutely fine hun, don't worry.
You may find that he is sleepy for the rest of the day, and he might walk a little funny for up to a week until the pain has gone down. He'll probably lick the area as well.
Just a bit of a friendly warning - my cat became a little bit boisterous and very slighty aggressive for about a month after the operation. I think that the combination of knowing that something's not quite right 'down there' and the hormonal changes does sometimes lead them to act differently.
I only mention this in case he becomes a bit of a terror after the operation and you start worrying that you've made the wrong decision! Eventually his behaviour will become calmer than it was before and he will be absolutely fine.
xx Emmie

My kitty was castrated last Tuesday, I think the hardest thing is the fact that you can't feed them after 6pm the day previously, mine was really hungry and was sulking because I wouldn't feed him, anyway, took him down to the vets and the operation itself only lasts ten minutes, but they like to keep them in to ensure they come around okay, he was really pleased to see me and the vets said that in fact, he had enjoyed it there. He was bright as a button when I got him home, was still the same, apart from missing two little bits of course, kept him in for two days afterwards and then he had the freedom of the cat flap, once he mastered it.

Me too!! My Colin is getting done on Friday. I've had a previous cat go in and its a really straight forward operation, easier than the female version. They just chop them off literally! They dont even sew them after. They are a bit groggy after and feel a bit sorry for themselves. Make sure you make up a bed for him in a quiet place with plenty of soft food and water available. Maybe even move his litter tray for a few days so he doesnt have to go too far. But dont put the litter tray next to the food and bedding as he wont use it. Cats are fussy in that way. Good luck!

he will be fine in a few days after some rest. and for the record he is NOT being castrated. This is reserved for male animals that generally develop cancer in their testicles. Neutering is NOT castration. These are 2 different procedures. Neutering leaves the testicles. Castration removes the testicles.

Yes absolutely fine - I was worried that he was going to be all quiet after and have no fun in him - but he's just as lively and still has his psycho hour where he just runs around frantically for no apparent reason
And don't worry about him putting on weight - thats a myth - if they are getting enough exercise- but they will fill out - and thats not the neutering - thats just them getting older!
He'll be quiet for about a day then go back to normal

A cat neuter is a fairly simple procedure. Depending on where you go, it's usually over in no more than 20 minutes. In general, there are usually no complications and your cat should recover quickly. If you have any questions about the procedure or you are anxious, call your vet and he/she can explain the exact procedure to you.

he'll be groggy from the anaethestic and obviosuly sore, the biggest thing that shocked my though was my cat was balck and white and his underbelly was white, when i got him home he was covered in blood, the vets advised it was cleaner for him to wash hisself but I found it v upsetting. He will be sore so make sure everythings handy for him. Put a blanket or a cat bed under the radiotor or somwhere warm for him and put his food and water and litter tray near by so he doesnt have to struggle. I have to be honest and say i was very upset watching mine go through it he looked so ill, but he was ok in a couple of days. good luck x

when our 2 boys got neutered we picked them up in the evening after the procedure and the were very groggy and out of it, that is till we got home and then they were wanting to play and run around, I had to put them in their carrieriers from time to time because they were too active. I had taken the next day off from work to be with them incase of any complications, only thing I had to worry about was trying to keep them calm as much as possiable.

When mine was done, he was really really grumpy! He also had a lot of toilet accidents in the house for a couple of days after.
After a few days he was fine and actually became more loving than before.

Yes! I had my cat neutered a couple months ago. They just cut a tiny slit in each of his "sacks". They ooze a little for a couple days then it heals. Best wishes!
