yorkshire is made up of 4 smaller counties North yorkshire the largest south yorkshire west yorkshire ant the east riding of yorkshire some people still like to call it east yorkshire.
normanton is in the middle of the city of Wakefield and Pontefract. Normanton is faifly small but has easy transport links to the city of leeds wakefield and pontefract as it is situated at the side of the m62 motorway.
Weare all friendly in the north of england.
Normanton had a bad name in the past alot of unemployement due to the closer of the coal mines but recenlty the has been a lot of regeneration and is a much nicer place to live

hope you are happy in tour new home

Normanton's not a bad area, there's good parts and bad parts. It used to be a mining community but the decline of the mining industry hit the town and other surrounding towns hard.

It's very easy to get to Wakefield which isn't a bad place and has some good shops and night life. It's also easy to get to Leeds which has an excellent range of shops and things to see and do.

West Yorkshire as a whole is very mixed - there's some terrible run down areas in some of the towns and cities and there's also some really attractive parts and quite 'posh' areas.

Yorkshire people are by and large a friendly bunch, what you'll find in Normanton and the other neighbouring towns is that the people are very down to earth and some people may find them to be abrupt and gruff but at the same time they are by and large honest, hardworking folk who are very loyal and dependable.

Up in this part of the world many place names are abbreviated and Normanton is often called Normy (Wakefield is Wakey, Pontefract is Ponty etc). Here's a website about Normy - http://www.normy.co.uk/

Leeds/Bradford is in West Yorkshire, with airports at Doncaster and Sheffield being in South Yorkshire. Manchester is the nearest truly tremendous international Airport and West Yorks is only a hop, bypass, and a leap remote from it!
