I don't think you should lock her in her room for safety reasons but you could try putting anything you dont want her to get to up really high....where she can not reach it even if she wanted too.

Try getting an alarm on her door that will go off if she opens it, that will wake you. Shouldn't cost a whole lot we have one at work for when people open the front door we'll know we have a customer. Also buy one of those lock boxes for important files at Wal-Mart or Staples and keep all medicene in that. Keep the key with you so she doesn't find it. If she gets into that you may think about going into a crime spree with her. Try restricting naps in the day time. If she is scampering the house at night shes probably sleeping too much in the day.

I may be old school but it is never a good idea to have a child that young awake unsupervised wether she is playing in her room or running around the house. If she is awake you need to get up with her.

Try putting the Summer extra tall walk through gate(You can get at amazon.com or at jcpenny for around 70.00 dollars US.) up in your daughters room. It is nice as it is not a small gate that kids can climb over, it also pressure mounts so you do not need to use hardware and ruin the doors. Next I would take a cabinet and place a lock on it that needs either a combination lock or a key lock on to ensure tha meds are locked up. Finally, it is time to teach you child that bed time is bed time and we do not leave the room. Routine is the key here, I hope this helps good luck

Maybe you should try not to go to bed while your toddler is still awake. Get her on a sleep schedule more in tune with yours. Start putting her in bed an hour earlier, and getting her up an hour earlier. She should no way have the run of the house without supervision. And I also think it's a bad idea to lock her in her room. What if there was a fire. Or if somebody turned you into CPS cuz she tells them Mommy locks me in my room at night. Just stay up until she's asleep.

You can not lock her in her room. If this were to be discovered by police/fire/rescue it would surely be reported and acted on. I know that your intention is to keep her safe but they wouldn't look at it like that. You need to take the medications and get a metal lock box (you can pick one up at wal-mart, shopko, k-mart) and lock up the med's. Put a nail in the wall near the door jam in your bedroom at least 6 feet up and hang the key there. She will not be able to reach this and no other kids. Try not to let her see you fetch and return the key.
I second the child plastic door handle cover if you have that style (round) of handle. If not try the gate or stack two of them up.

Toddler proof your home. There are many latches and locks you can get at the store to secure cabinets and drawers. My 18 month old is extremely curious, way more so than my 4 year old and we have had to take extra precautions because of that.

Keep your medications on top of the refrigerator anyway. Second, invest in one of those doors that is cut into two so that the bottom can lock, but the top can be open. That way, you can lock her in, but still see in to make sure she is safe.

do not lock her room (think FIRE)

you are just going to put hinks out of her reach and reinforce what is not for her. you must be firm and make no exceptions.
my daughter and i went through this and it is a phase. i had to keep things up and out of reach for over a year before she learned to keep her hands off.

you could try putting bright stickers on the items you do not want her to touch and then explain that she is not allowed to touch them. find something that she values and use it as punishment for touching the items with the sticker.

for instance we took away her comfort bear she also had to serve a time out everytime she touched something. it took time but she now understands that somethings are mommies.

good luck!!

No you cant.If there were a fire or something that would be bad.But you can get one of those little alarms like they put on the windows and put it on the door and when she opens it --it will go off. After the second scare she will stay where she belongs.

I think you need to change her sleeping habits to go with yours a bit more. Don't let her sleep in late in the mornings. Don't let her take a late afternoon nap. Deprive her of sleep (just naps of course) and she should start sleeping better at night for you. It will be hard to do at first but you'll get through it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
