took the lead at Talledega? Seems to me that they normally throw the flag the minute they see smoke. That played right in to Gordon winning #77. What do you think?

And yes, I did watch the race. Now, don't get me wrong, Gordon is talented, but he's got to be the luckiest SOB on the track.

They did wait. TV showed the 00 blowing up a couple seconds before the caution came out. Reutimann finished 8 laps down it seems a little fishy to me that Nascar waited to try and get the race to finish under green like some are saying here. People say the waited until they could confirm fluid on the track and that the 00 was in the high line but how often do we have to listen to Nascar say they will always err on the side of caution in the interest of safety. Why not this time? Specially when you consider how fast the last caution came out. Nascar stated at Daytona they waited to through the caution because the wreck was behind the leaders until the flipping of a car to allow them to race back to the line. Talladega's caution was almost immediate and darn near before the second wreck with the 20, 26 and 38. Fast cautions, slow cautions, mystery cautions, lacking some consistency, no wonder people are jumping on the manipulated race theories, I can understand how some can totally make the leap to that. I'm not one of those that believe its true but come on Nascar, show from conisistency. As for Gordon, he has put his car in position to be lucky a couple times and in the right place at the right time when a couple cautions came out.

Did every one out there see Nascar tell Bifle and Kennseth to crash the #70.They also told Gilliand and McMurray to take out the #20. I'm betting that no one was allowed to pass Jeff on the restart so he could win. Man I am surprised that Nascar made Jeff wait all of these years before they 'LET' him win enough races so he could pass The Late Great #3 on the win list. If I was Jeff I would be really ticked off that I had to wait this long before they LET me enter the record books.
WOW, the imaginations are really running WILD. Nascar just can't win, Danged if they do and Danged if they don't. Let's grow up people.

Nascar did the right thing. When Reuttiman blew he was in the high line. Go back and watch again. The field passed him and he went to the bottom. When he went to the bottom, then and only then, could they confirm he was leaking oil on to the track. Just becuase a car smokes doesn't mean its leaking oil. McMurray would not have won anyways. In case it wasn't noticed his car burped on the final restart from being to low on feul. Johnson flew right by him as well as a couple others. So there was no conspiracy. Luck has been on Gordons side this year. Its funny he gets a little luck for a change and everyone wants to whine. Oh the mass conspiracy theorys, grow up folks and accept the fact he is the winningest active driver and the four time champion. Give him a little respect........

You may have a point. Other than 3 to 5 tracks, most of the races are boring. Nascar needs to remove some sheet metal from the front of the cars and reduce the spoiler and then they will have competitive racing.

Hello there. No I really don't think they waited to long to throw the caution. I am glad he won!! I had $100 dollars on the line. My father and I had a bet that if Jeff won then he will give me $100 dollars but if he didn't win then I couldn't ask for no money or get gas with his credit card for 6 weeks. So you now know that I am a FAN of Jeff's!! They did the right thing. Well that's what I believe!!!

agreed on the lucky breaks and the caution. i bet since Jeff is Nascars golden boy that they cut him a little more slack than say...my man Tony Stewart for obvious reasons. but imo that caution should have never happened cause the car was well out of everyones way and they shoulda just let the race finish. and no im not against Jeff, starting to be against Nascar though!

It did seem like a delay .Being at Talladega it was hard to see what was happening at that time.
as for it playing into Gordon winning this can be placed right there with Richard Petty's 200 th victory.
The events pointed to Gordon winning started the week before at Phoenix when he tied Seniors record. What better place to break Seniors record but Talladega, where Senior won the most races at.
Conspiacy?

Tony Stewart was right, Nascar is like professional wrestling and Gordon is their main attraction. I'm personally getting bored with the finishing under caution races and the COT's.

NASCAR seems to really love those odd cautions whether it phantom debris, or waiting until the driver they want has taken the lead...poor devil that was smoking must have thought it was even longer. Ya it played into the gordo win, NAsCAR should realize they are making some people hate him even more.

No. But I can see how fans of other drivers would think so since there was only one winner. The truth is that it is very easy to Monday morning quarterback. Heck, its even easy to "2nd, 3rd or 4th replay" quarterback. Try to remember that NASCAR has only a few seconds to look, determine the danger and determine if they can allow the race to continue safely. They have to look and see what the conditions that were created and if any drivers behind the 2 wrecks (lets not forget Tony's spin that happen a second or two AFTER and in FRONT of the other wreck) were possibly in danger. If you watched the race (objectively) you knew that there was a possibilty, slight, of 1 or 2 drivers passing Gordon but it was by no means a done deal.
