You hear all the time what god is wonderful and loving, but what about the victims? Who is wonderful and loving to them? Earlier someone posted a question asking people what they would do if god asked them to kill a stranger. Here's the link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkcMIFfnDW_JWnMU1wO6PFDsy6IX?qid=20070501190830AAYYVPl&show=7#profile-info-38tJQpBzaa

Well, the majority of the respondents say that god would never do such a thing. How can this be when the bible is full of commandments telling you to stone people who break certain laws, commit abominations. God tells Moses to take a town and kill everyone in it except the virgins, who were to be kept as wives for the conquoring Jews. Jesus says for christians to bring the unbelievers before him to be and slaughter them. You are all well aware of the verses of which I speak, if not, go to bible.com and perform a search for the words kill, stone, and slaughter.

So, why is it that people forget this?

They have their own image of God. I've seen answers like this before and it proves how blind they are to their own "Holy Book". Abraham was told to kill his own son... though God stopped him, he still told Abraham to do it. Yes, the God of the Bible would ask a person to kill a total stranger if he asked one of his own Faithful to kill his own son.

What I find contradictory is when they tell me that God IS His Word... what He states is Law, HE IS. Thou shalt not kill???? It doesn't appear that He IS his word because according to the Old Test, He breaks it often.

I am a Theist, but anyone who has ever read any ancient writings concerning Gods/Goddess and the supernatural would be able to see that the Bible is the same thing as all the other "Myths". It was written by ancient people, for ancient people... who did not have the knowledge we can obtain today.

Oh, they don't forget it. They WANT God to do it to use Non-Believers... they just don't want God to tell them to do it. *wink* They love to throw the threats around, but they don't want to be the one's to do it. Reminds me of elementary school... "My Daddy is bigger than yours and if you don't do.... I'm gonna get him to kick your Daddy's ***."

You are confused about who said what....The various religions (including the Jewish faith) have set their own rules...not because they are obeying God but based on what they think should be done. Stoning for example: God did not to the best of my knowledge ever tell someone to stone someone else for a supposed sin. That was man's call. God has always said that he is to be the judge...yet man has taken it upon himself to determine who will live and who will die, who is a sinner and who is a saint etc.

I am only aware of two specific instances in the Bible where God himself judged man and found him lacking to the point where destruction was the only just thing to do. In the time of Noah, mankind was so terrible that God preferred them to be destroyed rather than to tolerate their behavior. The second instance was the destruction of the two cities of Sodom and Gommorah (not sure if that is spelled correctly). Again, sin was so rampant that God said they were to be destroyed. To Christians, any judgement that God makes is totally just. He is reacting to what man does. In both cases, the people who were destroyed preferred themselves over God and preferred to make their own rules instead of obeying the rules God set forth.

The Bible tells us that God gave man a perfect start. (Gen. 1:27, 31; Deut. 32:4) Man’s continued enjoyment of God’s favor, however, depended on obedience to his Maker. (Gen. 2:16, 17) If man was obedient, he would continue to enjoy perfect human life—no sickness, no suffering, no death. The Creator would provide man with needed guidance and would use His power to safeguard mankind against any calamity. But man rejected God’s guidance; he chose the course of self-rule. In trying to do something for which he was never designed, he has brought calamity upon himself. (Jer. 10:23; Eccl. 8:9; Rom. 5:12) Yet, over the centuries God has been patiently seeking out those who, because of love for him and his ways, are willing to serve him. He sets before them the opportunity to enjoy all the blessings of which they have been deprived because of man’s imperfections and misrule. (Rev. 21:3-5) The provision God made by means of his Son to redeem humans from sin and death is a marvelous evidence of God’s great love for mankind. (John 3:16) God has also set an appointed time when he will destroy those who ruin the earth and will cause lovers of righteousness to enjoy life in harmony with his own original purpose

They like to forget this because it would conflict with our code of modern 'religion-neutral' morals. It is just another example of how morals are clearly not derived from a higher power but rather from natural humanity.

But you do not die, one minute your here and the next your standing before God.

Maybe he knows they don't belong/fit in here and has them killed so they will be in a better place with him.

Quit thinking of death as an end.
