It is stated in the Bible that Satan is warring against Christians. Thus our conflict is not supposed to have anything to do with physical warfare -- Christians are no part of the world -- rather, we have a spiritual warfare fighting with the demons.
Ephesians 6:12-13 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. 13Therefore take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect. the devil cant enter your mind unless you let him,unless you open the door for him by not going to church,being an atheist or cursing God and having a pagan religion.

Please read "The Origin of Satan" by Elaine Pagels. Satan/devil is a manmade myth.
