There is no cure for sunburn. Your best bet is to prevent further damage by using sun protection.

Sunblocks rated above SPF 45 won't protect more than those with SPF 45 rating. So using higher rated sunblocks will not work. In addition, sunblock will help protect against UV, which can cause cancer, but it will not block out the "darkening" effect after repeated and regular exposure.
The darkening effect, or pigmentation, of your skin by the sun is actually the natural way your body protects you from the harmful effects of the sun. Therefore, the only way to protect against pigmentation is to block out the sun light.
Wearing a hat with large enough tongue or brim that covers your face will work. Otherwise, a cap plus a bandana around your face will also do the trick.

Are you confusing sunburn with suntan? Tanning is a normal response to normal sun exposure. Once you tan, the only way to reverse it is to stay out of the sun.
Sunburn is the reddening and sometimes blistering of the skin generally from excessive sun exposure on a single occasion, say a sunny day at poolside.
Because of the increase in the incidence of melanoma and other skin cancers, experts are fond of saying "there is no such thing as a healthy tan." We should all use sunscreen.

sunburn stinks! make sure you keep using sunscreen and reapply it every hour [or whatever it says on the bottle] Aloe Vera gel works really well to soothe the pain, it makes your skin feel cool and icy. AHHH does it feel good! after your skin contacts water be sure to put lotion on, so your skin does not dry out. Some people use calamine lotion [the pink stuff] to ease the pain. if their is skin peeling off of your body don't peel it off! it is really bad for your skin! freckles may occur on your face but after your tan/burn is gone they will usually go away.

It cannot go back to it's natural skintone without less exposure to the sun, unfortunately. It probably looks like a healthy glow on you, so I wouldn't worry about it too much but if it's that aesthetically displeasing to you why not try to even it out by allowing ex[posure to your midsection also?

To cure a sunburn, lie down in shade, go in doors, and/or put cold ice or water on the sunburn.
