action man did infact serve during the second world war as a private in the infantry and later went on to become special forces which were i believe he still is although he has done some stints for the government in a mercanary sense.

Mine was deffo in the army. He was eagle eyes! He could move his eyes from side to side and was very adept at leading his team of non moving eyes action men. he had all the get up and a particularly nice machine gun that made a ratatattat noise.
He did used to treat my sisters Sindy and Barbies very badly and for that he is truly sorry. He also kicked the shite out of Ken once.
