I shampoo mine every night and wash every morning with just water and i used to have loads of dandruff now don't have any, try it for a couple of weeks and you'll be free, you don't need any special shampoos either.

I'm not sure how many times but i had really bad dandruff and the only thing that i have found that works is a shampoo called
selsun you buy it from the chemist it is about £3.80 for a small bottle but after two washes the dandruff is gone i wash my hair with it until the bottle is empty then i can use my ordinary shampoo for a year or so before it starts to come back i have been using it for about 15 years i hope this helps

It usually depends on your hair type as well as your dandruff.
For example, I have very dry hair and I cannot wash it more than every 4-5 days or it looks like straw.
Experts say that you should NOT wash your hair every day, as some people tend to do. This strips the hair of the natural oils it builds up to protect the hair shaft. So at the most, every other day should be fine.
One thing you can buy if you have a problem with an itchy scalp is L'Oreal Elvive SOS Treatment, which is a cool gel-type liquid conditioner that you can squirt onto your scalp between washes. You massage it in and it prevents dandruff and calms down itching. It's really good, I use it myself:

Washing hair reduces the natural oils of the scalp.... along wit dirt and grime.
It is more important to remove the reason of dandruff than counting number of washes.
Oil your hair with warm (as hot as you ca comfortably take it) mix - coconut oil with Neem oil and 2 big chunks of camphor.
Apply consistently for 7 to 15 days depending on the intensity of the dandruff.
Throw away old combs/brushes.
If yu don't sweat or get too dirty, washing hair in soft shampoo 3 times a week is okay.
Protect from dust, direct sun, other infected combs. clips etc and drink plenty of water to help blood reach and nurture hair roots well.

I am giving you a bit of very good advise. Try this for cure & quick action. Apply at night on root of your hair an ointment with the following combination
Betamethasone USP 0.05% w/w
Salicylic Acid 3.5% w/w
Zinc Oxide 0.5% w/w
and wash your hair with a shampoo having ciclopirox 1% in it.
Do it every alternate day for a week than twice a week for four weeks than make it once a week. You will get excellent result. I am giving you the brand name also if you can find it.
8x manufactured by "Cipla".
Propysalic*E ointment by H & H Pharmaceutica PVT LTD.
Now you can decide yourself but if you use normal shampoo & keep your hair dry than daily if after shampoo you apply oil in hair than every third day is ideal.
