1: weight. The added weight of one parachute per passenger would keep the plane on the ground.
2: Time. There simply is not time to get everyone to strap into a parachute, then file calmly to the exits and jump out. The plane would be on the ground before the first row of passengers had left it.
3: Design and purpose of aircraft. Pilots in fighters are intended to take their aircrfat into situations where it is likely to get shot at and severaly damaged. Pilot escape systems are therefore built in. Passenger planes are not intended to fly in high-risk areas, therefore they are designed differently.
Simply put, it is not practical to equip every passenger with a personal escape system, so the planes are designed with safety in mind, and pilots are trained to recover from most problems in such a way as to maximise survival of both aircraft and occupants.

Why did you not look this up, when your very question has been asked 14 different times? (Use keywords "airliner" and "parachute")
Since you're obviously too busy to look it up, I'll just repeat my answer:
1) Most crashes occur at take off or landing, where there's not enough altitude to jump.
2) It takes a LOT of training to learn how to use a parachute properly. Even in the army jump school, the course takes THREE WEEKS FULL TIME, the first week you don't even leave the ground!
3) Logistics: can you design a parachute that can be used by EVERYBODY, up to senior citizens in wheelchairs, down to babies and small kids in strollers? How do you determine how many to carry if you issue different sizes?
4) Ethics: if you determine that you can't save everybody, who then do you save?

Do you know how fast (or slow, as a matter of fact) and low an airplane has to be for someone to jump off a plane?
Nothing in comparizon with the condition that airliners operate on.
For faster moving planes, like jet fighters, a special ejection seat system is needed, complete with oxygen supply. That is what is needed to safely egress from a plane, especially to avoid hitting some part of the plane on the way out. The same requirement thus exist for airliner, that means the only effective way is to have an ejection seat.
It should be noted that most accident involving airplane occur during takeoff or landing, at an altitude that is simply not compatible with the deployment of parachute. Additionally, imagine 200+ people, not trained for the use of parachute in the first place, who do not even know how to don them, waiting in line to jump.
Personally, I'd take my chance and stay in the plane, particularly if the plane is above the ocean. Swimming 1500 km in frigid water is not really appealing.
And for the record, a parachute weights about 50 lb. That is about what a passenger is allowed to carry as luggage, so that extra weight means no more room left for personal belogings, or one out of five passenger is eliminated to make room for the parachutes.
And ejection seats weight more than 120 lb... Plus they need their own door.

Firstly, since when did movies refer to anything that happens in reality?
Secondly, planes fall out of the sky in an instant - check out youtube videos on this topic and you will see very clearly this is the case.
Thirdly, how would you put the old lady, or the lady with a baby sitting next to you in a parachute?
In short, your question has no connection to the reality of plane crashes.

Why do people ask this question 10 times a week? When you ask a question type in the keywords and see if there isn't already that question. (The people above have correct answers to your question).
