Most kids start stuttering when they start talking, but i started stuttering when I was 10. Maybe it was triggered by a high fever or something (I get sick alot). School was HELL for me. I'd be praying that no teachers would call on me to read or talk aloud in class. Whenever I did read aloud, I could hear my classmates sniggering and whispering. During high school my confidence plummeted. The fact that NOBODY, not even my family, acknowledged my problem made it all worse. I felt so alone and victimised. It was easy to blame God, but I knew everything happened for a reason and all I could do was pray. I'm in college now. I guess its better cos I've learnt to control it, like calm myself down before I talk. I still talk really fast for some reason, my friends get irritated by it but it's ok. I'm scared of the future, like when I start working. Does anybody wanna share their story too? I just need to know that there's somebody out there going through something similar. Thanks. God bless

Several of my uncles and cousins used to stutter. They had stories of being teased, dreading oral reports in school, having few friends who understood them, etc. Someone finally told them about The Stuttering Foundation and they all got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" and worked through it over and over. One uncle also went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering. He became the most fluent but still kept working through the steps in the book at the same time. They said that getting that book was the best thing they ever did, but that they had to really work at each step, not just read over it. All of them went on to get good jobs and have great marriages and are happy that they found out about The Stuttering Foundation. People who stutter can live a normal life and can help others learn more about stuttering by helping to spread the word about The Foundation and education the public on how to communicate with stutterers. Contact your local paper and ask them to do a story about stuttering for National Stuttering Awareness Week May 14-20 and offer to share your story. Ask them to give people The Stuttering Foundation as a source for infomation and help. You just might help some other stutterers and their families. Many people who stutter go into speech therapy as their way of helping.

gentle stuttering is in maximum cases no longer a reason to have an iep. this is considered scientific and the new child would acquire outpatient speech therapy. If the new child had cerebral palsy and stuttering that is a distinctive questions.

I feel like your faith in God is worth praising. Did you know that even if no one else in the world will praise God, the rocks and the trees will start singing? You are faithful in that area, you are gifted with praising God, when no one else will.

You write exceptionally, perfect grammar. Great job there. Keep up the great work and you inspire me to keep following God. Thank you for your question. I wish I could talk to you in person, but Jesus knows whom you are going to touch next, so just be ready to keep doing what you are doing.

I still stutter and I'm not ashamed of it. I don't stutter bad. I just stutter when I talk fast. Just take your time and talk. Like I said I didn't stutter bad, but I did and it was embarrassing but I only laughed at myself, it just makes me the person that I am.

Both my father and my sister stuttered. Both were able to overcome it. Practice talking to yourself in the mirror. Also, practice phonics. That is what my sister's teacher did with her. She overcame it in less than a school year.
