Most people who do commit suicide are extremely unhappy with their life, and don't believe it will get better. I've been in mental hospitals a few times for being suicidal. A lot of people think teens are just trying to be depressed and being trendy by cutting and doing other forms of self-mutilation. Sometimes this is true, and it really ruins the seriousness of a real situation. Usually, harming yourself is a cry for help. Many don't show anyone what they've done, or don't mention anything about being unhappy.

Please, take it from someone who knows, is still depressed and is trying to recover...if you or someone you know is thinking suicidal thoughts, contact someone. Help can be given, even though it seems like the last thing in the world you want. I'm glad I got help when I did, and I'm glad I realized I truly am depressed. Otherwise, I may not have been treated and I could still be doing harmful things to myself.

I'm only 18, but a lot has happened to me that people don't understand. I am not a happy kid, and I don't follow trends. I really did need help.
