my brother subwoofer worked for about 20 minute sbumping hard and it shutoff we changed the rem wire n now the speaker sounds blown but i dont c how could it be possible?

did you shut off the radio or did the amp turn off and did you try putting the wires the way they were, and spell things out and more details and people can give you more help you did not even say what audio bond speaker it was. crappy sounds out a speaker most of the is because you hooked it up wrong or your amp does not get the power it needs or putting out to much power

You can damage a speaker's voice coil by over-powering; but you can also mechanically damage a speaker by using it with a poor box design. If the box is too large or too leaky the power handling capability of the subwoofer will be reduced. Also, if you have a ported box, the sub can be damaged by playing bass signals that are too low. Subs in ported boxes should always be used with subsonic crossover filters to cut out bass below the port tuning frequency.

If the maximum input POWER OF THE SPEAKER is less than the output power of the amp 1000 (Í'm assuming is rms) then yes it could be blown.

if the rms of the speaker isn't set to handle the wattage of the amp sub go by by go get some real speakers that can handle power cerwin vega strokers only the best will do

sounds to me like you guys didnt know what you were doing as far as ohms, watts, and gain settings. yeah, you probably blew it.

distortion blows sub usely underrating the power causes this
