Can you recommend a place to stay in Montauk, Long Island - not too expensive - for the long weekend?

There are so many listings on the internet and I would like someone who has actually been there to recommend a nice place for my boyfriend and me.

By far, the nicest place to stay is the Montauk Yacht Club. It's is however pricey. Along the oceanfront in the village and also on Old Montauk Road there are plenty of affordable places to stay for a long weekend. Most have swimming pools and breakfast. Also Gurney's, a restaurant, also has places to stay. That's on West Lake Road. Also you could call up the tourist booth near Johnny Marlin/Salavar's Marina. They sell tickets for the whale watch cruise.
